It is a Windows 10 boot time comparison between two laptop running on exactly same hardware except the RAM i.e; 8GB(4+4) on first one and 16GB(8+8) on second one

Both laptops are ThinkPad T430
Specifications
RAM - 8GB(4+4)/16GB(8+8) 1600Mhz DDR3
CPU - Intel core i5 3320M
Storage - 500GB/256GB SATA 6Gbps SSD
GPU - nvidia NVS 5400M 1GB dedicated memory

I forgot to mention it before in the video while editing, that RAMS used on both laptops are dual channeled i.e, (4+4, 1600MHz) on left one and (8+8, 1600MHz) on the right one.
And booting time does not only depends on the RAM used but also there are some other factors like

*Operating system( 32bit or 64 bit, windows 7 may boots faster than windows 10 in many cases)
*Most important one i.e. CPU/Processor
*SSD or HDD (If its SSD then whether it is SATA or NVMe / if HDD whether it is 5600rpm or 7200rpm)
*Startup Apps, etc.

So booting time can differ for everyone based on the system specifications and the factors mentioned above.
In my case both laptops have the same hardware specifications and same startup applications turned on but at the end of the day its just a small comparison and does not give same results every time.

The difference isn't related to the ram. You don't need over 8gb ram just to boot a clean system.

Booting à system is more related to the hard disk than to ram. But it's always good to have some extra ram

RAM has got NOTHING to do with the boot up times between these 2 laptops. Both running SSD's, not the same capacity though. You could take the same spec laptop and have 4GB RAM with the same frequency and the start up times should still be similar to these 2 laptops. Not forgetting apps that are starting up along with the boot of Windows. Startup tab in Task Manager.

SSD + dual channel Ram is the best combo

I'm a chronic judger and perfectionist and Imma give you a tips for laptop on the right.

1.
Change BIOS/UEFI from Legacy to UEFI.

2.
Clean install and make sure in Rufus before flashing, you select GPT partition scheme.

That way, you don't get the stretched Windows logo which I really hate.

I think is more of SSD depending than ram ram doesn't play a significant role in loading times compared to the hard drive but it does in multitasking

Higher capacity ssd often have higher speeds. There's your difference

This on my recommendation xD
Beary nice
I have 16 gig of ram, but still on HDD

Why is everyone commenting like they're smarter than you? You did a good and fair comparison, although I would have preferred to see it done on a desktop using the same test bench

That one random guy that has a desktop with over a terabyte of RAM: "5.365325 seconds! That's a world record!"

I once read in a official Microsoft documentation that PCs with more RAM may take slightly longer time to boot than similar PCs with less RAM. It was something about Windows being able to skip certain things from its checklist when on less RAM. Of course, the machine with more RAM would kill the one with less RAM in terms of actual OS performance once the devices complete boot up.

The booting speed depends on the storage device, the processor and the ram speed. The not the ram size.

If you can not wait another 5-10 seconds for your computer to boot up, then you need some counselling. Only get the upgrade if you have software that requires it or if you have extra money. Like everything in life, buy according to your needs.

I've 8 GB RAM with 512 GB SSD and it boots in 10 sec. It doesn't make sense, You've shown 8 GB RAM PC booting in 23sec while my 2 GB RAM with 512 GB HDD PC take almost this much time.
