just upgraded from 2x8 gb stick to 4x8gb sticks (adding a pair of identical 8gb stick) really boost the performance and fps stability, no more stuttering while playing The last of us remake and God of war 2018, playing Forza Horizon on 1440p ultra the fps is so stable, no drop, not even a single second.

Seems like 16gigs is still a valid choice, but you can squeeze those few extra frames with doubling that. And if you have other programs in the background when gaming, 32gigs gets even more tempting...

32 GB is the sweerspot and 64 if you want to play it safe and think ahead but not necessary for the time being. When the dips are significant, then you make the move.

16G still enough. Ryzen 7 5700g + 16g @4133mhz CL16 + B450 mobo here. Very good.

judging by these results i'm assuming 32gb of ram would be pretty futureproof for 1440p then, right?

Depending on the platform, enabling EXPO/AMP, low latency mode, disabling integrated graphics etc also increases FPS with no additional cost. Thank you for the benchmarks! Any chance of a PUBG benchmark?

64gb is not really necessary for gaming but when it comes to 3D modeling or texturing especially if you're using a software like Mari which I'm using, 64gb will indeed save your day. Since the Mari file gets heavier and heavier while you're doing the task in the software and 32 gb might not be enough. Just like yesterday when I was working on a texture for my model and the file went all way from 1gb to 5.8gb after I added details. My pc lagged so hard and when I check my ram in the task manager, it ate up all of my ram leaving me around 1.5gb. I just upgraded my ram to 64 quad channel and thank god it saved my whole day.

I think, for the Asus Maximus Z790 Formula + i9-14900K, 64 GB DDR5-6600 CL32 is the right choice.
I was torn between this and 48 GB DDR5-7200, but if in doubt, more RAM is better than pure speed. Although 48 were still better than 32, so... 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️🤷

I was going to use just 2x16GB (32GB) DDR5 in my latest 2024 AM5 build this month, but decided to order another 2x16GB a few days later (for 64GB total RAM) for no other reason than 2 empty memory slots on the motherboard looking incomplete/off (to me). 😆 Not like it's that expensive - just another $130-$140 for the extra +32GB.

Nice video, I purchased a 64 GB of ram laptop in January 2023 and I cherish it everyday.

R9 - 5900x, RX6900XTXH Asus, 970EVO 2 TiB/980PRo 2TiB with first 32Gb, now 48Gb .... will upgrade to 64Gb this week. Love it to keep all the programms (Affinity Photo /Designer. Visual Studio, Inkscape, Exel/Word/PDF and browser) Running while do a quick Game round with ~20-32 GB free ram space

For a minimalistic gamer ryzen 5 with 16/32GB is more then enough, for people where like to be desktop messis go with 32-64GB

with 64gb ram I can open 2 or 3 3ds max files with photo shop or maya at the same time. 32gb ram will cause performance drop and computer freeze more often.

Can you upload the configuration of your monitoring software? It looks pretty neat

Is this for fps or smoothness (avoiding stutters)?

I'm surprised that 8gb can still play a lot of games without having so much lag spikes.

What is the monitoring software you are using at the top?

I usually have up to 20 chrome tabs open while I'm gaming, usually unwatched videos. I am currently on 32GB's of ram. I will upgrade to 64GB's to improve frame time and allow for background activity.

32 would be the best but it’s not really necessary yet, the performance gain it’s just too small
