What if grand admiral Thrawn destroyed the new republic

the Galaxy was actually better when the Empire took over, people had jobs, they had a giant death star which was a deterrent to anyone who would fight them, but people freaked out, then rebelions happen. the empire could have lasted if the emperor would have given power to someone instead of keeping power.

What if the Empire was not defeated by the rebels and lasted what would change in the Yuuzhan Vong war?

If you're a human from the core worlds with a good family name and influence/wealth, then the Empire was awesome! For literally everyone else, it was the absolute worst. Aliens, former separatists, people who disagreed and even humans from outer areas of the Galaxy. One thing is racism and discrimination, those things can change over time, but when the Empire resorts to slavery, conquering any world that defies them, a fear state and weapons of mass destruction, you start to realize why the Rebel Alliance was formed. Some people were better off, but most people weren't, and even if it was just minorities, it still is a terrible state they were living in. The Old Galactic Republic wasn't much better, it had become consumed by corruption, politics, inefficiency, bureaucracy, and corporations with far too much power. But the Empire was not a solution, it was only replacing a problem with another huge problem.

The Empire was Palpatine's solution to a problem that Palpatine caused. It's like a firefighter also being an arsonist, heroically putting out fires he set in the first place.

Empire maybe not but I think the Separatists had some potential to rule the galaxy fairly effectively as long as Dooku remains the head. Gunray or Grievous are not exactly leaders of the people so it would have to be Dooku to make decisions, mediate disagreements and deal with the Separatist council and Senate/Parliament.

The Empire could have been a force for good, under the right leadership. However, finding that leadership seems unlikely.

Well... between The Empire and Yuuzhan Vong, I choose the Empire. Zerg are still Zerg by any other name.

When dealing with something as subjective as this, you really need to set a "Baseline" so to speak, since once could argue that an "Evil government" is a contradiction in terms, since evil is defined as "antithetical to society" and a government is the key part of a society. We call Nazi Germany, Stalin's USSR and the Mongols evil, and the empire has all the slavery, over-taxation, and genocide we cite as reasons for that, and arguments of "security" and "a future" fall flat because the possibility having your planet destroyed at any moment, even if for a reason, is not a very secure life, and the Empire would strip the resources and enslave the populations of the planets it came across, so the only people with a future were the wealthy core-worlders.

In Legends Fel's Empire was a shining example of what the Empire might have become

Eventually they have seen only brutality and dominance isn't a way to maintain an Empire, it can create Empires but not make them last

the reformed Fel Empire would have worked if it hadn't been for Darth Kryat splitting it in two and led the former benevolent Emperor Fel mad and had to be put down

The autocratic system isn't evil it depends who leads it

Palpatine was intelligent and a capable leader, but his brutality, his reliance of peace through terror, him having thugs of officials who got into power by riding his coatails didn't make it work

Vader. Thrawn and partly Tarkin are capable leaders

But Tarkin is also a poor example as his own reliance of terror to maintain order wouldn't make it last

The Empire might have worked if everyone fall in line but every being ins independent wanting freedom therefore it wouldn't have last unless its willing to reform and change like Fel's Empire did to compromise with the people which Palpatine was incapable of doing

It wasn't in legends. It was made to combat the Vong.
