Graying in premature age is called as Premature Canities. Why does it happens is basically there is a problem in the production of melanin in your hair root. so your hair follicle not only produces your keratin containing cells, but I also produces melanin containing melanin pigment and this is transferred to the hair shaft. So whenever the cells that produces or the melanin content comes down. It gives a greyish colour. There is a genetic condition. There are genetic conditions where there is reduced production of melanin and this can gives rise to varying color of hair. It cannot always be white, but be reddish brown, reddish in color.
