Is the Porsche Taycan still the ultimate performance EV ? A simple question that need a proper test. I took the Taycan on a road trip to see how far I could get on a charge, took it to an ultra rapid charge and of course did a launch control !

Another cracking video. In a time where Taycan’s are getting a bit of a slating for their residuals, this video truly highlights how capable and well made they are. Well done 👍

Assuming you have an EV tariff at home, that 270mi Cotswold journey will have cost you about £6. That’s a major advantage of owning an EV with home charging 👍

My old '91 MK2 Golf GTi 16v was Oak Green. Great car, great colour

Some important points you raised which many non-EV commentators don’t realise, or media report which isn’t real world case.
-> People get these cars on business schemes and are not paying RRP, or losing nowhere large amounts of money.
-> Charging discounts - many EV makers offer charging point discounts. I also get discounted rates. So the advertised higher price per kWh is rarely paid.

You are the first YouTuber I’ve seen actually mention and use the Porsche Ionity discount.

I love these, they are just so engaging the sound from the engine is mesmerising.

A really impressive car with a fantastic specification. Not sure how much a practical car it is but shows what EVs can do!

Hello Peter.

What a car! The performance figures for the Taycan are mind blowing, that car would blow away the fastest road motor bikes. The colour is stunning and the interior colour is perfection. I think the truffle leather will age beautifully.

No need to worry about putting price to one side. I’m sure many are here on the journey with you. Go back a few years and we were watching largely obtainable cars. It’s fine to just enjoy delights like this car. Some can buy it new, some can buy it used and so on 😍

I've had an EV for nearly two years, and if you're a rare person that drives up and down the motorway every day for hundreds of miles, then they're probably not for you. If however, you're normal and do routine journeys, driving around the country now and again to visit relatives and friends, then I find you charge at home 95% of the time. Which on Octopus means night charge rate of .07p a kw, so over 300 miles for less than £5. People do worry about there being enough chargers, but seem to forget that vehicle range's are rapidly increasing and the need to charge on the move is quite infrequent.

I love my Taycan 4s. I miss the driver engagement of an actual sports car as there’s very little joy in driving fast in a Taycan. Charging is amazing, and I get 300+ miles from a charge in the summer so rarely use the charge card, but when I have it’s been exactly as shown. Have to say the turbo S courtesy car I was given was another level to mine. Great review

Fabulous colour combination and wow what a car. I agree the cross turismo is the one I’d go for as well and at 300 miles per charge range anxiety is somewhat mitigated. Your builders face was a joy 😂

Hi Pete, the fastest charging curve for a 350kw charger on the Taycan gen 2 is about 5%-62% . Stopping to charge at 20% is a bit early. Run it done to 5% then charge to just over 60%, unplug and move on.

Loved this! The turbo, especially, is surely an incredible feat of engineering. Tomorrow I say goodbye to my Tesla MY and pick up my new (to me) Cross Turismo; approved used, 3 years old, 18k miles and some choice options, for approximately £55k less than new - that's the sweet spot for me, can't wait!

For a Porsche the depreciation is steep, as many ICE ones (Porsche 911 / Cayman / Macan)) hold 50%+ after 8-10 years. But any large saloon (German premium ones) depreciate heavily anyway….so it’s a great bargain really, if you are so inclined. Keep up the good work Pete.

What a great car, fantastic exterior & interior colour combination.
For me this is about as good as it gets for a new car, an amazing machine and a great review Ped.

Hi ped. That colour combo exterior and interior with that spec is really nice. Lucky man for having that in your life for a few days.

Thank You, great review as always. I have -22 Carmine Red GTS ST fully spec and love it. It really hide that mass in corners with air suspension, torque vectoring and rear wheel steerint. Over 170k€ car 1, 5 year and 20k kilometres just little over 100k is crazy.
