Adding displacement vectors in one dimension

Displacement is a vector. If Corey marches 30 m North, turns around and marches 20 m South his total displacement is 10 m North. You probably don't need a diagram to figure this out, but by using simple examples to show how to add vectors in one dimension we can learn the techniques that will help with more challenging examples down the track.
