now that is how a video from a major audio company should be.

A tip if you don't have too much space in your room, if your speakers are front ported which the Eris lineup are, then you can just put it against the wall to also minimize the phase cancellation caused by the walls but make sure to reduce the low end by around 3dB to account for the summation of low freq (knob on the back) due to wall reflection. It's called wall loading. The amount reduced is not entirely accurate as the amount to reduce varies frequency by frequency, however, it's a good starting point. This is also the reason why you see in big studios, there are speakers installed flush on the wall. It eliminates 1 wall from the equation and thus it's easier to tune.

Don't point the monitors directly at your ears, point it directly towards you if you are around 2 feet behind your sweet spot. This, in general, creates better stereo imaging and a wider sweet spot.

Lastly, these are all guidelines, see what works best for you.

Fantastic tutorial thanks!
Question, what kind of audio interface do I need for 7.1.2 or more surround sound setup in Windows for mixing in a DAW and also for watching movies in Dolby Atmos?

When calibrating my studio monitors should the pink noise be at 0 dbFS on my DAW master meter?

So if my speakers are close to the wall is it advisable to put an acoustic panel at the back of the speakers like on the wall

Great video. Also, everyone rags on using headphones to mix but there seems to be just as many problems to be had with monitors. No way I could possibly set my room up like this.

Why does no one talk about what and how the "acoustic tuning" knobs work as well? Like I feel this isn't so common knowledge it should constantly be over looked right?

I bought the Liquid Stands foam pads (3-4.5") for $18. Good foam and adjustable with the 2 piece design. Not affiliated with the company in any way--just think they're great for the price and perfect size for the 3.5 Eris speakers. Got rid of the desk bump.

How about going to the next level and using a tool like REW to equalize your monitors? This video provides a good starting point.

I can still hear stuff above 80hz coming from my Pro Sub 10 with the HPF set to "ON". I also still hear stuff below 80hz coming from my Eris E5 monitors.

I'm playing sine waves using an online tone generator. The low pass filter on the sub is also set to 80hz. I'm trying to get rid of standing waves in my listening position (Some bass notes sound quiet while others sound boosted). Not sure if I'm doing something wrong...
