Thanks for the video! For anyone interested, Waves' H-Series collection (which has two of these plugins in it) is on sale for $250 off right now, and _most_ of their plugins go on sale often enough that I wouldn't plan to pay full price for any of them. It's definitely worth signing up for their email newsletter and regularly checking the specials on their website.

CLA drums from waves.
It is a reverb, compressor, gate, and eq all in one.

Love NLS from Waves on each channel and on the Master Bud. Adds power, warmth, clarity and space of actual mixing boards

Nice vid, I like : DMG Equality for EQ, Waves RBass for harmonic bass enhancement, Waves Rvox for very simple vocal compression ( especially when I have a ton of vocal tracks in a session ), URS Phat C for more detailed compression, Waves Aphex Aural Exciter to enhance Hi end ( I usually have it on a parallel bus ), Lexicon Pantheon II amongst other reverbs, Big Blue Limiter for errrr limiting & also Bad Cats Protector, Soundtoys Decapitator to crust up Vocals & Slate FXG as a Master Compressor/Limiter on the Master bus, Native Instruments Transient Master for punch and Sustain control, Vir Syn V-Tape Saturation for analog warmth, Scarlet Gate as a noisegate. There are others I use but off the top of my head my main ones I think

Thanks for that. Here are some of my favorites:

EQ: DMG Equilibrium an incredible and highly versatile EQ. The desert island EQ for me.

Compression: for Buss compassion I love Cytomic Glue. An emulation of the SSL bus comp.

Compression 2: Love the Waves CLA comps but also take a look at the Softube CL1B comp - an excellent emulation of the Tube tech original hardware comp.

Limiter: Flux Pure II and the Slate FG X (to be used with care and a full understanding of the controls! :-)

Reverb: Wow a lot in this category but if I could choose two algo verbs they would be the Ircam Flux Verb Session which is absolutely gorgeous and has a very natural decay. Also love the Relab LX 480. A lexicon 480L in a plugin - it's pricy but outstanding and almost indistinguishable from the original hardware. For convolution reverbs I'm really digging the EWQL Spaces reverb.

Delay: my goto is the Soundtoys Echoboy. It's been around for some time but it's still a great sounding and full compliment delay.

Saturation: The Slate Digital console and tape emulation plugins are great.

Honorable mention: A very useful gain plugin that I have loaded on every channel is the Sonalksis FreeG.

One could go on for ages but I would say these are my goto tools.

cheers,
Nasser

Great as always I just suggest that you put links to the website's where you can get the plug-ins for future reference towards making your content stand out even more.

NICE video man!! Sound Toys Echo boy is my favorite/goto Delay. I got into the Pro-L about a month or two ago. It's great on the master bus but depending on the music the L3(waves) sounds better for me. Imager is a MUST HAVE!!

My question: With, the H-EQ, I wonder if the perfect application for mono mixing L & R separately on a stereo track, would be an acoustic piano recording. I have an album I dumped on my DAW from a DAT tape and need to adjust the bass and the highs and at the same time get rid of the room's noise. That's an interesting problem, I'll check H-EQ for the low hum, but wondered if I could chain two other instances, one for L and one for R. Very helpful, I learned something I had never needed to notice since I started using Waves plugins 17 years ago (on and off). Thanks!

14:40 "show me the money babe cuz that's what i want..." omg.. the spirit of 2016... back in the 70s it was: "imagine all the people, sharing all the world" <3 bring back the spirit!

Well, it depends on the material but for pumping music I often use different instances of volume shaper resp. shaperbox instead of compression. You can manually draw your adsr or other rhythmic shapes on different bands and trigger it by midi if necessary or sync and combine it with parallel phase reverse to use it as dry/wet via sends as sort of fully controlled parallel Multiband compression. Saves a lot of eq'ing and fumbling with master compression btw... but what will someone change in his master what he didn't hear in the mix? Anyway, I also love happy accidents. :)

PS: Try K-12 meter scale in Pro L for this sort of music!

Nice video. Thank you for posting.

I used to own a big Waves bundle, but found their pricing and pay-for-updates-and-renewals policy annoying. I would highly recommend looking into some other products as well as the ones you like and use:

* All of the Fab-Filter effects. Great GUIs and great plugs.
* Plugin Alliance effects are awesome! I own and use a ton of them. (the whole BX series, Lindell, Millennia, SPL Maag, Blackbox, etc.)
* Slate Digital. Lots of incredible plugs. I bought them instead of subscribing.
* Sound toys. Buy the whole set.
* Valhalla. Way underpriced. Great plugins.
* Nugen Audio for mastering plugs.

And PLEASE pay the companies and the developers for their hard work. No one wants to spend his or her time and money making good music only to have people take it for free (unless it's a promo piece). Please keep these great companies alive and functioning by paying for their products. It's the same thing as walking into a store and stealing.

Can you please do a tutorial on mixing + mastering rap vocals. Lets say a verse and a hook. Use only logic and waves plugins.

great video, you help me every day. I watch your videos before GMM, linus, tech tips, everything! I've been recording myself (horribly) for years and years but you helped me have all my shit together and sound super professional when I recorded a band that isnt direct friends of mine recently. Thank you

Hi. Just discovered your channel. Amazing info !! About the Waves S-1 Imager ; The example you used was EXACTLY what I needed. I'll record L and R heavy rhythm guitar tracks and send them to a bus loaded with the S-1. Never been happy with the results of the imaging like that. I'm guessing you load an S-1 as an insert on each of the L and R tracks, and then adjust as you demonstrated ? And I learned a lot from just this one video. I think I have all but 3 of these plugins, so I'll be spending this weekend reworking a couple of my mixes while familiarizing myself with these plugins. After I binge-watch all your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge brother, and have a great weekend. :-)

Hey, I love the H-EQ
Does anybody know how to activate the solo mode so it does what the Fab Filter Pro does.
There is supposed to be an ‘S’ button below the frequencies but I don’t know how to get it to come up.
Thanks

Awesome review! I agree with most, except the last one - limiter. I mean, I use Pro L all the time, but on muster nothing can get EVEN CLOSE to Sonnox Oxford Limiter ;)
