I’m a Grandmother raising an Autistic child for 10 years now. We have been trying so hard to navigate this winding road of therapies & techniques only to find ourselves frustrated with the run around by insurance companies and the “your doing it wrong” to the point of hopelessness. I’ve learned more on YouTube than anywhere we’ve gone to for help and understanding. All we’ve ever wanted was help for our Grandson so that he has a chance at life. I’m so thankful that you and so many others share what you know and how we can help our children! Blessings ~

I wish you had been my mother. I’m 26 and just finding out that my entire life has been one sensory overload after another. My parents never helped. In fact, they just assumed I hate to be touched. So I wasn’t even touched like a normal kid. I’m so glad parents like you exist

Omg this information is gold!!! My son is 3 years old and Deaf, he loves to chew wipes, eat lotion and soap and i didn’t understand why, but this makes so much sense now. He can’t stay still has so much energy and always wants to touch everything, now that am aware of this i can work with him and understand him better. Too bad others don’t understand it 😢

You’re so good at explaining everything. I really appreciate what you said about not focusing on labels and focus on what’s best for your kids. I can see you doing TED Talks. Wonderful and informative video.

Right on! Thanks for stressing the importance of focusing on the needs of our children vs getting lost in the labels. Excellent advice.

Thank you for this
My 3 year old just got diagnosed with SPD, and it's been a lot to take in as a mom. We have always known something was "off" but now that there is a label it makes it more real. Now I'm just trying to figure out what I can do to make life easier for her. We start OT tomorrow, so hopefully I'll learn along with her.

I just found out yesterday my kiddo has spd. She's 7. I've always just thought she was naughty, and it was my bad parenting. I thought I was too soft and too many choices. I'm now changing my parenting. And focusing on her. I'm going though videos ATM for advice. I do not want her to feel 💩 about who she is. I want her to be the best she can be and most important HAPPY. Great video, and great start off. Thank you.

I was born with SPD with hyper sensitivity, and you jotted all the stuff down that I can think of. I had an occupational therapist who taught me 2 lessons, and after a couple months of excercises I was brushing my teeth correctly and I could hold cold drinks, and none of the stuff really bothered me.

I'm a dad of two boys I also do the same techniques I just watched your video and it's so interesting how you don't know until you actually look it up on the internet I do play with them to get them tired both of them are the best bed buddies three and five and three

I recently have connected the dots and I may have hypersensitivity. It was a heavy weight off my chest to realize I wasn’t crazy and instead just dealing with hypersensitivity meltdowns on a regular basis. Since having a name for it I’ve been doing research on how to deal with it better but everything I can find is for parents of young children. Regardless, having a name for my issues is really helpful because it makes me feel qualified.

My therapist recently brought up sensory processing disorder and right as you were explaining hypersensitivity is when i had to pause the video because the wall behind you was so distracting. All the different sizes and colors. So when i unpaused a lot of things my therapist was talking about started to make sense. Really learned a lot from this video, thank you.

Thank you yet again. Many people do not understand that sometimes it does not good to get a diagnosis and sometimes it does. I love your suggestions and will totally use them.

This is a very informative video on SPD you explain it well from a parents viewpoint.. from daisy mum xx

Exactly I work with ALN children and most are not diagnosed but my job is to ensure they are getting the most out of our education care centre we can give them to develop to their fullest potential xx as I expect my son’s teachers to support him as best they can for him to achieve things xx
