Vocals on this album were fucking amazing!

Honestly, I credit all 3 vocalists as a huge reason I got into Mastodon in the first place. Troy, Brent, and Brann all have such different vocal textures and it really gives the group a lot of versatility in tone and musicality that a lot of other bands lack.

Brann fucking nailed the vocals on this album. He has so many amazingly catchy vocal parts, on top of the standard top tier drum parts.

"We're not an one dimentional band" - that is the goddam meaning of their philosophy, which makes them the most creative and eclectic band in metal mainstream today. And the only way to get into their records is to listen to them isolated and multiple times, not paying any attention to the so called "critics".

Love the All the Heavy Lifting mention in the end

brent's vocal part on steambreather just elevates that song on a whole nother level

I love how the band is so into their own music. Doesn't feel like a product the way the talk about it. Feels like something close to them. Is the album genre defining epic musical dynamite like their first 4 albums? No. But you can tell they pour themselves into it. Great stuff. It's another win for the band. Only thing I noticed is I'm not hearing as much of the rockabilly noodley stuff that used to pack in their albums. Maybe Brent didn't write as much on this record.

Don't listen to the bitching about repeating ideas, being too poppy, etc. Critics sent me down the wrong path before I even bought the album, turns out it's one of the best albums I've ever heard. Congrats👏

Gotta love how Troy's face just warps when he sings or play's the bass. Sign of someone who's really immersed into the music.

Then when you get to the live shows and you put in Bill's growls, it's just that much more brutal!

The fact that three people sing in Mastodon is one of the reasons I got into them. I thought I was tired of metal but then I stumbled upon Blood Mountain(and even more so Crack the Skye) and realized I was just tired of nearly every metal band screaming non-stop.

I love watching Troy track his vocals. His posture and energy is awesome, and such a distinct voice!

I love how collaborative these guys are, even after 17 years of being together!

The vocals were so good on this album, I really dig Brent's vocal style. Last baron from Crack the sky is one of my favorite Mastodon songs.

The highlights: Brent's Jaguar God, Brann's Roots Remain and Troy's Ancient Kingdom. Great album, liked more than last 2 as a whole.
