My Bank of America America's Home Grant Program NIGHTMARE

Hey guys! Welcome back to my channel! This video is all about my horrible nightmare with Bank of America and their Americas Home Buyers Grant Program. This grant is applied once you apply for you home loan (pending qualification). Me, being a first time home buyer, REALLY wanted to save some extra cash. Listen to the story of how I was failed multiple times and lost out on so much money due to the negligence and unprofessionalism of Bank of America's employees! Luckily, I was still able to purchase my home, but it was almost impossible!

A lot of novice mistakes here. As a professional real estate investor, I can advise you on a few things for the future to keep yourself out of trouble during the home buying process and once you become a home owner. Never pay more than 99% of appraisal value no matter how hot the market is. There is always another seller somewhere else that would be happy to get an offer in the 95-99% appraisal value range. Also, you can increase your offer to roll in the closing costs. Lastly, get everything in writing in real estate. If your loan officer, real estate agent, contractor, etc. tell you something important, have them send you an email stating the same thing. If they refuse to put it in writing it's b/c they are not confident what they are saying is true.

My exact experience. They were very rude, spent two weeks trying to get them to respond . Pure Racism towards us black family . I dumped them so fast and move on with a private Mortgage broker and walaaa !!!! things moved faster and in one month, I closed October 1st.
I pray someone file a lawsuit against this practice on BOA.
Slowly withdrawing all my accounts from BOA.

I know I'm a year late but because of this video I ended up looking into BOA and thankfully they now list all the areas that serve for certain grants. Thank you for your video.

I’m so sorry you had to go through that. It is very illegal to “ STEER” potential home buyers to a particular neighborhood or illegal to steer them away. You need to consider reporting him if you haven’t already done so. If a customer or client even ask me about how’s the neighborhood, I have to be very careful about how I answer that or I could lose my license.

I took this grant. Had a 60 day closing. Closed a week late. I did walk away with $1800, but I was stressed. I could have been homeless. I had to bitch boa out on Twitter just to escalate.

I initially applied in May of this year but I decided not to move forward with their offer because I didn't feel comfortable doing the whole home buying process over the phone. Today I woke up and said to let me do some research and I came upon your video. But before that, I remember the agent on the phone was so kind to me and I decided to look him up only to find similar things you mentioned said by other people who used him. I swear I am so happy I watched your video and did some research.

BofA never fails to always get sued. My advise to everyone, even if they just applied for this grant, save your paperwork save it for the Class Action Lawsuit. If you move -update them on your new address, email and phone numbers.

Oh my gosh - thank you so much sis for doing this video. I was just about to refer my sister-in-law to this BOFA Affordable Home program but ill tell her about the downside. I'm a Community Development Mortgage Loan Officer working for a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) credit union and I try my best to help first time homebuyers but Bank of America's down-payment program is by far the most money out there for any programs but the mistakes they make is not even worth this kind of stress. Bank of America is known for making mistakes tho. I'm glad you closed 🙌🏾 You make me feel good about being a Loan Officer that does things right but I could not work for Bank of America.

Sorry 😞 that happened to you Simone I am a Realtor and some of the things that they did was not very professional and you are right they are not supposed to tell you where to look or where to buy a home in a certain area that is very illegal I really do hope and pray that you enjoy your new home🙏🏾🥰

In my opinion this was an updated version of redlining and Bank of America just came out with another similar program in September 2022.
