Since Cell actually used Super Saiyan Grade Three, it's obvious that his yellow aura is actually of a Super Saiyan and that he got Super Saiyan 2 like Gohan after the zenkai boost. As he have saiyan cells of warriors capable to do it, this is perfectly accurate.

It'd be funny if Cell set the Cell games date and then just sat in his ring and waited but didn't realize his Saiyan DNA made him susceptible to full moon transformations so he'd turn into a Bug Oozaru randomly and then change back and be like "WTAF"
