Doctor’s first blood donation #shorts

As two doctors we were honestly a bit embarrassed that we hadn’t donated before. But after experiencing how easy it was, we plan to make this a regular date night - blood donation and a dinner date after!

Unfortunately I can't donate blood due to some medical issues. It gets me upset thinking about it. When I almost died from COVID-19 in April 2020 I had blood donated to me. Thanks to everyone who donates their blood. Good Bless You All 💜🙏

Almost up to my 50th donation...my brother was knocked down by a car when we were children and he required a lot! I always thought if someone hadn't donated he wouldn't have been alive today so I pay it forward for him 😁

In the UK they send us a text message when our donation gets used!

For UK people: for men you can donate every 3 months, for women it’s every 4 months. There should be a website for donation services in your specific country, and guidelines on what medical conditions stop you from donating. Eg diabetic people can give blood if they manage their condition. I donated in July (oops, I gotta check for an appointment then!) and honestly I didn’t even see the needle. It wasn’t that painful either, the finger prick test to check iron levels was the worst thing and that wasn’t even that bad, just unpleasant. Please check if you’re eligible and see where the closest donation place is, the nurses there are honestly fantastic and you get a snack after!

So thankful for people who donate blood! My mom used to donate regularly but can’t anymore due to a false positive test result, they just can’t take any risks with donors. Thank you for this really interesting and informative video! ❤️

My high school used to run two blood drives/year and everyone would get really excited when they were 16 and finally old enough to miss class and get free snacks, I mean donate blood 😂

I've never donated blood but I donated plasma! But I definitely want to at least once in my life because my mom needed two blood transfusions after she had surgery. So grateful to everyone who has donated!

I just donated for the first time last week. Was an interesting experience, whole blood donation was only like 10 minutes of pumping so much faster than I thought but the needle was big so it hurt a bit.

Thanks for donating- I’ve had 2 blood transfusions cause I’m severely anaemic and allergic to iron infusions - it’s honestly amazing. I’ve never been able to give blood sadly but very thankful
