What happens to your blood after you donate? I went to the blood processing facility (aka blood factory!) to find out. Red blood cells, platelets, buffy coat, plasma, and more!

Thanks to the Canadian blood services!

Did anyone else have the thought when watching the full video “is this where they came up with the idea to name Buffy Buffy?”

How come some people get really nauseous when donating blood? I’ve donated twice but I always get super nauseous mid way through and really sweaty

Thanks again for everything you do, Dr. Siobhan! I hope the type of of plastic used to make the bags doesn't contain any phthalates that mimic strogen. There are safe, non toxic types of plastic. By the way I remember having read about serious problems in patients after they had their blood circulating inside a machine that replaces the lungs, but I cannot remember details now. Have a wonderful weekend, your are truly amazing!

Did you know it’s traded as a commodity now? You donate it thinking it will be used for good. Governments and financial institutions profit off of it.

Why was my comment about blood being traded as a commodity removed? Normal people donate blood out of the kindness of their heart, governments and financial institutions profit from their “donations “
