That RTX 4050 is looking smoking good if they don't put it out for pre scalper prices... oh wait they've already done that and are calling it the 4060ti.

So we have a third CPU manufacturer entering the consumer market (in China only for now), Intel putting L4 Cache in their next gen CPUs, and AMD putting hybrid cores in their next gen CPUs. The CPU market is going to get interesting next generation.

Rtx 20 series relied on ray tracing to sell the gpu's without a big gen to gen upgrade.
40 series is doing the same, just instead of Ray tracing they're marketing fake dlss3 frames this time round

A 4050 scoring ~14% faster than a 3060TI is pretty good, just too bad they named it 4060TI and are probably going to set an euqally inflated price

The RTX 4060 Ti can't be rock bottom because it has a "Ti" on it. There will be an RTX 4060 and likely also an RTX 4050. We haven't hit rock-bottom yet.

I'm just gonna keep using my 12gb 3060. I'm not paying exorbitant amounts for one part, or for an unnoticeable upgrade.

Unless Micro Center opens a store in Green Bay, I'll still be living about 5 and a half hours from the nearest store and their "shippable items" selection is lacking.

I said it before nvida and amd are price fixing in my opinion and we should skip this gen so that both companies learn how respect the consumers who made them this big

I think the RTX 4000 series is a skip altogether. It's basically a minor refresh of RTX 3000, the prices are trash and we know that the upcoming RTX 5000 is a huge leap forward unlike 4000.

Just a note: We already have competitors to Intel and AMD, they're just not mainstream or easy to use. Currently, you can grab a variety of ARM based SBCs, or in fact, Risc V based if you're feeling spicy, and you can use a wrapper (box64, box86, and fexemu come to mind) to translate the x86 instructions to the instructionset of the board you're using, and run any mission critical X86 code you need to.

They're not crazy fast (although they are surprisingly impressive for the power consumption), but the various projects focusing on that are getting better every day, and eventually I could see a situation where you could have a comfortable desktop experience without Intel or AMD if you really wanted to. They are fast enough for certain types of games, too, so I really don't think you'll be missing out on that much in reality, as I see it.
