Kerala: Dozens killed in landslides triggered by heavy rains

Prolonged heavy rains in southern India have led to landslides sweeping down onto hilly villages in Kerala, leaving people stranded under mud and debris.

Scientists say monsoons are becoming more erratic because of climate change and global warming.

Im living in Mananthavady, wayanad.
The situation is really really bad. This is the 3rd time landslides happens in this area, in history, but this time the situation is really bad. Govt put strict rules to stop commercial construction in this area but there are many many quaris are running. There are many resorts constructed which is not allowed by government but with the political influence. Wayanad's entire climate have changed since the last 7, 8 years.
I m living in wayanad for about 38 years. I can see what changes happening in wayanad. In the name of tourism, wayanad destroying day by day. Last summer time the highest temperature was 34 degrees Celsius.
Bcoz deforestation happening in wayanad in the name of tourism and constructing huge resorts on top of the mountains.
Summer time wild animals are coming out of the forest and destroying farms.agricultural.
Govt should take strict action against illegal constructions and quaris.
Most of the people from wayanad are farmers, but its very difficult to earn from farming bcoz of the unstable climate.
