Landslides caused by heavy rains kill dozens in India’s Kerala

At least 50 people have died and hundreds are feared trapped under mud and debris after heavy rain triggered landslides in southern India.
It happened in Wayanad district in the state of Kerala.
Rain and blocked roads are hampering search and rescue efforts.
The army has deployed more than 200 soldiers to help.

It's not 50 now, but 200 n still counting😢 Around 200 people are still missing..And those who barely managed to save their lives has nothing left... No family, house, land, n not even a spare dress...Don't know what to say.. Those poor people got washed away in an instant. And you know what. Rescue operations are not easy in those terrains.. Not 50 people, now the death toll reached about 300 😢, and several missing. A village were existed 400 houses has totally wiped out by the major landslide. Now only 30 houses remaining there...😭🤲

Till the end of the original India, Wynad was a forest district. After the birth of the new India (with the stolen name), the forests were literally wiped out by big business groups with official connivance.

Huge forest lands were converted into barren lands and the trees individually worth 100s of thousands of rupees worth were cut down. The forest dwellers were driven out using pejorative words of the local language.

Official corruption was the root cause.

As of now, Wynad is full of barren hills and also new plantations. The persons who conspired with the local officialdom started setting up Resorts and such other things.

Lands from which the trees were wiped out were sold cheap to new settlers, who were practically deceived to build their houses in locations where the massive tree felling had created unsafe terrain and landscapes.
