TRANSCRIPTION:

Here's everything you need to know to get your Square Reader set up and running.
Inside your box there's a Square Reader for contactless and chip and PIN cards, charging cable, and a Square magnetic-stripe reader.
The Square Reader has a chip card slot, power button, port for the charging cable, and contactless antenna built inside, so you can accept contactless cards and devices, like Apple and Android Pay.
The battery should last all day on a single charge with normal usage. To check the battery level, press the power button. Four green lights indicates your reader is fully charged and it can keep taking payments. Three or two green lights indicates a partial charge and it can take even more payments. And one red light means your reader needs a charge immediately.
To charge it up, plug the cable into your reader and a computer, USB wall charger, car charger, or USB battery pack. It should take two to three hours to get a full charge.
Four green lights means your reader is ready for business.
Now let's connect your reader to your device.
You can connect Square Reader to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth LE.
Make sure your device has the latest version of the Square app. You'll need to do this before you can connect Square Reader.
Next, go to your device's settings and turn on Bluetooth. Now you're ready to pair your device with your reader.
Open the Square app. Go to the menu, Settings, Card Readers, Connect a Reader and then Square Reader.
Press and hold the power button on your reader for about three seconds. When the four orange lights start flashing, release the button. The Square app will automatically pair with the reader.
Once your reader is connected, you'll see four solid green lights. That's how you know your reader is ready to take payments.
Your reader may go to sleep to save power. If it does, press the power button once and the Square app will connect instantly.
You can also use a Dock for Square Reader. Just place your reader into the dock with the USB port facing downwards. Then, set the clip in place to secure your reader.
Take the dock's USB cable and plug it into a USB wall charger.
The dock charges your reader, gives it a home on your counter, and securely positions your reader to accept contactless payments and chip and PIN cards.
Now let's start taking payments.
You can accept contactless payments and chip and PIN cards with the large Square Reader, and swipe cards with the included magnetic-stripe reader.
Make sure you position your reader so it's within reach of both you and your customer. This lets you accept payments quickly and easily.
Select an item from your library or enter a pound amount for a new item. Then, tap Charge.
Wait for one green light to appear on your reader. This means it's ready to accept payment.
To take a contactless payment, ask your customer to hold their card near the reader.
Four green lights will appear and when you see the checkmark, you're all set.
You can also accept contactless cards the same way for payments under thirty pounds.
To take a chip card payment, tap Charge, wait for one green light to appear, then insert the chip card into Square Reader chip-side facing up. Have your customer enter their PIN on your device followed by the tick button, and leave the card inserted until you see the checkmark or four green lights appear on the reader.
To swipe international cards without a chip, just use the included magnetic-stripe card reader with your device.

Design of the reader is kind of flawed. Why would I want to let my customers use my iPad POS to enter a pin? It's quite exposed and other customers standing around could see you entering the pin. Also in times of COVID-19, I want as few people to touch my equipment as possible to avoid contamination. The Izettle reader is far better

Terrible design for those receiving payments using the Square App on mobile phone. Possible scenario being - if your a market trader, small store or cab driver whine uses a card reader devices App on the phone and the customer/passenger doesn’t have contactless feature so you give customer/passenger your phone to enter pin on what is an expensive smart phone.

Thus the scenarios that follow have an increased chance of happening: 1). The customer/passenger accidentally drops your smartphone in the process and damages the screen/phone, 2). the customer/passenger runs off with your phone and card reader, 3). over short time your smart phone, which you also use heavily for personal usage, could have had hundreds of different people handling it making it easily more contaminated very regularly.

In all cases it is better to have a keypad on the cheaper card reader than a more costly smart phone.

Except it doesn't work at all, and when you click the link to get help it sends you back to main website where you can purchase the hardware... Have never such bad organisation and such bad design of app or website... It's embarrassing

This reader is no good to me or my customers in the current covic19 climate! I don't want customers touching my mobile phone for chip and pin transactions! My customers don't want to handle my mobile phone either!
Received this device with my TSB business account and its unusable!!!!
