T. rex's Skull-Shattering Bite

preview_player

A new study by Dr. Ian Cost & colleagues explores the possibility of cranial kinesis - flexibility of the skull - in T. rex, and what they learned was that the incredible musculature of Tryannosaur jaws would have been truly skull-shattering, in more ways than one!

It takes something like T. rex for a long dead animal to be able to send cold shivers down your spine even though it can't actually hurt anything anymore

Oddly enough, that increasing low-note playing in the background reminded me of what T. Rex was said to sound like by recent studies. Fitting. It gets louder like its getting closer and closer. Just imagine hearing that in the woods at night.

This new study is insane! Not only did it have the power to crush bone, it had the power to shatter too! That's absolutely incredible. Awesome job with your piece as always Brian! Love it!

That poor trout suffered what we call an "oberyn martel" moment.

The artwork of the t-rex biting the triceratops face in half is pretty intense.

The best Tyrannosaurus art is defacing ornithischian art!

The music and art come together masterfully. Really does help captivate the viewer by presenting the dinosaur as a ferocious force.

Even if it was just for a split second, I love recognizing the New Mexico Museum of Natural History in videos like these. It's my home state, and I've walked through that building so many times. Excellent video and amazing art!

The more we learn about Tyrannosaurus, the scarier it becomes.

Hey Brian. I have to say, your channel is the stuff of legends. I watched each of your videos (Including the lectures), about 5 times. You just got the tough for editing, narrating, talking... Painting of course. And you have the heart for this profession.
You might already know them, but I have stumbled upon a Dungeon Synth band called Diplodocus. You might enjoy their recent release, "Slow and Heavy". Yes, the cover is a dated depiction... But being a Synth band, i think it adds to this extremely ancient image.

1:16. That is the most metal thing I’ve ever seen from anything dinosaur related

It's truly terrifying to imagine how immensely powerful a T. rex's bite must've been considering its enormous size, its rigid skull, and absolutely massive jaw muscles, when comparing it to the huge bite strength of modern crocodilians and what they can do with that bite, it boggles the mind.

This whole video was just a reason to showcase that sick art wasn't it?
