Ugh, corn fields are so scary when you have little kids. I always told mine DON'T go in, but if you do and get lost, follow the row until you get to a road and then stay there. Somebody will be coming to find you.

I have personal connections to two stories of little kids getting lost in corn fields. (Not to mention I got pretty turned around in one as an adult while searching for our flyaway trampoline, lol)

First one, my friend's nephew was visiting, and playing with the other kids out back but they didn't watch him well enough and he disappeared. They called the police and my friend decided to just go running along the road. She turned the corner twice and there was the poor toddler sitting exhausted at the side of the road. He'd found his way out but didn't know where he was and was too tired to keep walking.

The other time was two little boys in my daughter's kindergarten class decided that they'd quickly go to the one boy's house to get a toy they wanted to play with at recess, and reasoning that "probably it's just through this field beside the school, because he also has a field behind his house" off they went. Thank goodness they stayed together, and when the neighbours all around were notified to search their property, a nearby farmer found them behind his barn, confused that they were in the wrong place, and about to go back in to try again! 🤦
