Learn how to play Road Trippin by the Red Hot Chili Peppers with this free online instructional youtube video tutorial. This is part 2 and covers the bridge and outro. It's basically a "by ear transcription" that i did and found out after recording that the "A" chord in the bridge is actually A7. It could very well be that certain chords or riffs are played with a different fingering but overall it should be pretty ok...
Chances are that I don't cover each and every variation but this tutorial should give you a solid base for those few alterations that are played in the original song.

note: this video has been fighting me on all fronts during editing. everything that could go wrong went wrong. the video is the result of 7hrs trying to save the recording all together. Hopefully everything is ok but if it is not I won't be reuploading this one, it has given me too many headaches... :-)

enjoy this new video!

I think you slide from 4th to 8th on B string, you hold that tone and play 7th on E string (sounding together). (what also could be is instead of holding the tone, after the slide he plays 8th on B string and 7th on E string together)

I can imagine. You know, I've had the same problem sometimes with other songs and often I was using way too much effort. The trick is to feel where pressure is needed and keep in mind how your fingers are aligned. I would probably try to relax my hand as much as possible and start re-positioning my fingers until the sound is right. It's hard to explain with text only and without seeing what you do but don't give up, you'll get it right i'm sure!

thanks! yeah it would be possible but makes the videos even longer, what i would do is download something like audacity and slow down the tempo of the original song (without changing the pitch). That way you can choose your own speed and slowly increase it if you like...

Thanks!

the official tab says what you say, but i think I hear different and in the official video you see only a movement going down the neck, not a movement going from 4 to 7 to 10 etc..

But hey, I could be wrong here, use whatever you think is best! :-)

I'll start by finishing (perfecting) the song, once finished I'll upload the video and later a tutorial. (this won't be within 2 weeks as my wife is expecting our little one any now )

I think the chords on this part are correct, check: /watch?v=11GYvfYjyV0 around 3:22 and you'll see that dim chord(dim7) go from high to low. The chord is moved down a minor third each time and can be called after the rootnote or the function of the chord. As the chord is completely symmetrical each inversion looks the same as the "root-position", so actually the 5 dimchords could be one and the same

very good lesson. Each section is very well explained and I feel that I can now try to slowly put the song together. However, if I had one suggestion, it would be to perhaps briefly show the structure (verse chorus verse chorus bridge...) of the song so we can put it together slowly instead of listening to the rather fast paced song.

Thanks!

does it also do that when you play that note/string when you press with your fingertip(any) and then play it? (just playing the single string, if it still blobs then, at least you know it's the guitar not you)
