I was a kid growing up in the 40s, and I cannot tell you how much I LOVED the Maria Montez-Jon Hall features. As soon as we saw one, we could not wait until the next one was made. It was all part of a kid's Saturday matinee, which we did almost every week : Two features (usually B movies put together) a cartoon, a serial (we called them "chapters", as in "Are you gonna go and see the Chapters this week?"), and plenty of trailers, local commercials, comedy or sports shorts or both. This was before television, of course, and was a weekly ritual for much of my childhood. And Maria and Jon were a major part of it. And no, we didn't know they were sexy..they were just fun!

4K UHD disc for the most part have been amazing. The visual fidelity alone is well worth the upgrade over blu-ray. HDR, color grading, sharpness and amount of detail is extraordinary.

You touched on something that made me remember a funny thing. When my wife and I were dating, we were talking about movies, and she said she watched a lot of classic films. She talked about Shirley Temple, and Mr.Smith Goes To Washington, and musicals, etc... Then she asked me if I watched classic films, and I said I had no knowledge of classic films that didn't have monsters in them. I told her I could go on for days about Universal Monsters, and The Blob, and Plan 9 From Outer Space, but I had never seen Casablanca. She thought it was funny, and a little unfortunate. I am happy to report that I have spent a considerable amount of time watching classic cinema since then, but I am still way behind. I'm getting there, but it's a big world. I have seen Casablanca. I was delighted to see the Invisible Man had a strong supporting role.

thanks for highlighting that Maria Montez book! I've just ordered the set you highlighted in the recent Kino sale but had no idea about that book. I shall be ordering that ASAP!

A good chunk of people on the 4K subreddit were calling Roger Deakins “an old man that can’t get with the times” because he’s not a fan of HDR.

Thank you so much for your videos. I love that Marty has made the jump to 4K! I have it on VHS and I think a bootleg Blu Ray I got off eBay. The audio track is in Chinese, so I have to adjust the settings so I can hear the English version.
I'm going to be getting a copy of this one too, because if there was ever a character in a movie that I can relate to, it's Marty.
Thanks again for your love and passion for movies Heath, I will continue to support your channel.

University Press of Kentucky is one of my favourite publishers - they always release such incredible stuff, especially when it comes to classic film non-fiction. I'd love to get my hands on that Maria Montez book soon. To be honest, I know very little about her and that's making me want to read the book even more.

I'm going to purchase the Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind on 4K even though I only have a region B Blu ray/4K player so I'll miss out on the special features 😔

Night Gallery, YAY!!! I have the dvds (all 3 seasons) but I’m waiting for the possible complete series box set from KL. I hope it’s not too long of a wait.

There should be an 8th day added to the week for catching up on home video releases. Maybe two days. Maybe one day just for KL.

Kino Lorber consistently blows my mind! I love Criterion, Arrow, Scream/Shout, Vinegar Syndrome, etc - all those boutique labels are really solid….BUT…KL continues to put out such a VARIETY of things (deep cut tv shows, forgotten films of the 80s and 90s, classics, contemporary classics…the list goes on and on). AND- not only do they release a wide range of titles but they almost ALWAYS include at the bare minimum- commentaries (always my personal favorite extra)- and if the commentary doesn’t have the talent involved, they’ll at least get film historians or critics - which honestly can be even more interesting to listen to than the filmmaker ones! Again- KL is shooting to the top of my personal list as the best boutique brand out there.

Great, fun video. I'm looking forward to the Maria Montez - Jon Hall triple feature and the three made for television creature features. (All will be first time watches for me.) That Montez book looks awesome! Hopefully, you will review it. Montez reminds me of Kathleen Turner for some reason.

Man, you are so right, regarding these "so called fans", who complain about these older films going to Blu Ray. Not sure what is wrong with them. As for me, I am a huge fan of the 40's, 50's, 60's, etc., especially the horror films. The Made For TV Movies from the 70's & 80's (again, horror & sci-fi) are my favorites. I'm grateful that they have been released at all. Love watching your reviews.

Home video is never going to look as good as it does in a theater ( usually) and 4k is no exception but I agree with you that for the most part the disc is the best it will look. It is great when whoever releases the disc can get the directors approval or get the cinematographer to do the color so that it does look as close to cinema quality as possible.
