Completely agree with you. I made the mistake of starting my thread network with 2 Nanoleaf bulbs and one light strip last year. Then I was told that those device won’t be Matter compatible and they are releasing a new version. They work fine but the fact that they are not future proof irks me, especially for the prices those companies charges for them. Learned my lesson. My smart home will wait for a good 2 or 3 years before purchasing new devices. No more purchasing until then.

I think the main thing to remember here is Thread is lower level protocol, where as Matter sits on top of Thread / Zigbee / Bluetooth / WiFi etc. I feel a lot of confusion around Matter is selling Matter and Thread together. Unfortunately, from videos like yours and my own experience, I don't believe either Thread or Matter are ready for production use. It's very much like Zigbee before 3.0 was released. Too many manufacturers still wanting to do proprietary things.

Exactly, people dont know the difference between Thread and Matter. Just like the new released SwitchBot Hub2. It doesnt make sense at all (not a thread border router)

Thread is like zigbee's bastard step brother, like DiVX was to DVD. We've all heard the campaign ads and slogans for thread and matter. Now we have to wait and see if they follow through. I have noticed one thing, My Eve energy paired to my Gen2 Smartthings hub using the Apple Thread hub in my AppleTV4k.

Yeah I’ve got 3 thread over HomeKit devices and I added them to HA, worked fine for like 1-2 weeks then I go no response so I put them back
