Yes! Washing hair more frequently was a game- changer & so was double cleansing my hair. I condition & use a leave- in conditioner. I noticed a lot of health improvements (and hair) when eating meat, eggs & raw milk. It all works!

As an African American we were taught the exact opposite. We are taught to wash hair less to not remove our natural oils. However, thriving hair is healthier scalp meaning washing hair often. I started washing every week and my hair texture and length changing for the better. Good tips!

I think my biggest mistake with my hair journey was to go as long as possible between my washes. I was one of the people who thought: the longer I wait to wash my hair, the healthier it will be.
Now I know better. I wash it every 2-3 days and it looks and feels so much better and softer.

I completely agree about the dry shampoo and washing hair minimally! When I stopped dry shampooing and actually just washed my hair when needed my hair got so much softer and shiny and the ends even quit looking so dry and tangled. Thank you for all the advice Caitlin and the reminder that is a years time journey but so worth it!

I’m so glad you mentioned animal protein and more often washes! Trying to extend my wash day as advised from washing every day has destroyed my scalp!

As a woman who's hair type is on the opposite spectrum as Mrs. Midwest the things I do to grow my hair are very different. lol. I do find it interesting the wide variety of ways there are to take care of your hair and what your hair needs. Also I'm just so proud of her because I know what it's like to have messed your hair up and having to go on a journey to bring it back. I'm still on that journey right now.

I totally agree w your advice on the more frequent hair washing! My hair is the same way! As for the diet, I have a plant-based / vegan diet for many years now (12+ years) and my hair can grow to my waist. I cut it often to keep it from being too long for my preference since it grows so fast. So I think the diet just depends on the person. And my advice would actually be to incorporate more fresh veggies into everyone’s diet (including mine lol I could use more of it). 😊

I’m only halfway through the video (it’s great btw 💛☺️) but I wanted to say, thank you for talking about washing more frequently! The advice of washing hair more frequently to make it less oily isn’t true for some people, especially those of us who have 1a/1b hair. When I did research on this I found out that certain people carry a gene that makes for a naturally more oily scalp, and going longer between washes won’t do a thing for those people!

This is what I have always loved about your channel! I love your homemaking tips but your beauty advice is always spot on. It’s not fast fashion, it’s not fast beauty! You always do so much research and present discipline based budget friendly practices. And you speak to the heart of why women procrastinate these changes- it can be overwhelming and frustrating ESPECIALLY at the beginning! It’s like “why don’t I like these clothes I picked them ugh”. Just dread! Your videos always remind me I’m not alone in that feeling (like so many other women). It’s so hard to find wholesome beauty content on YouTube- Wholesome! whole milk! lol who else on this platform is talking about that! No one but you do because you’re honest about what works. Anyways I’m so happy you’re back. Godbless you and your baby boys :)

I have biracial 3C hair and have gone through a 13 year journey with my hair 😅 from relaxers to hair dye to finally the big chop... I’m at a point now where my curls and perfect, my style is flattering, and my ends are healthy. Still trying to grow it longer but moisture, conditioning, and yes BABYING your hair is the trick 😉 thanks for addressing all types of hair here Caitlyn!

The whole “stop washing your hair” train was so horrible and people still do it!!! Every bone in my body was like hmmmm nope. Don’t do that. Hahah! I love the feeling of freshly cleaned, blow dried hair.

I enjoy getting a blonde balayage done to my hair - but only once a year! This gives my hair time to heal, plus it is expensive. I like to get this done every spring around my birthday - so yes by the time winter comes my hair definitely looks ombre LOL. But that's why balayage can be a great way to go because it grows out well and allows you to not be at the salon every 4 months! Thank you for sharing your tips!

I could have totally listened to you talk for another 20 minutes, I love listening to you! 🤣🥰 I have a very similar backstory but in the middle of my hair journey made the mistake of bleaching again! I have it almost all grown out now and will NOT be doing it again. I stick to the every 2-3 day rule for washing unless my hair is looking good still from a styling. It's good to see you, thank you for your tips!

I really appreciate the honesty, especially about not trimming the hair. I have been trying to grow my hair for years and it was never getting longer. I was not damaging it and I was trimming it every 3 months as every hair growth video told me to. As soon as I stopped trimming it it finally grew. I don`t really believe anyone is actually cutting their hair as often as they say they do

Mrs Midwest, it'd be amazing if you did a video on how you budget your time as a homemaker and a mother, for those of us who struggle with time management and prioritizing our chores. Thank you for this video! 💓

This came at the perfect time for me! My hair has always been a huge insecurity of mine, and now after pp hair loss I’m focusing on regrowing strong healthy hair. I would love more of the deep dives in other areas!

I've been using a mix of garlic, honey and coconut oil in my hair as deep conditioning once a week. Its become so thick and so long. I love what you said about being low mentality ruins your hair I have had the same aswell. Coming back from it is astounding but alot of work.
