I keep listening to this message over and over because My life would have been different had I not allowed others to manipulate my life. Today I am a different person. Still working on this issue but by God’s grace I am working on being God’s daughter!

So glad I found this, the woman’s letter at the beginning felt like it was pulled from my heart 💔

The Church was a major teacher of people-pleasing thinking and behavior in my life. Overdoses of inappropriate shame and guilt is what I often took from my life experiences from Church.

I am here because my friend told I am a people pleaser and I could not believe it because I did not know, I decided to do research and get out of it, I have been saying no to people then finally found this sermon and decided after this, I am free from this behavior because at the end of it all it is only God who can get me out of it. I can not wait to come back here and testify how things have changed.
I am free indeed.

"You don't read yesterday's newspaper!
Why?
Because, it's worthless.
Then why was it so important yesterday?"
This is the perfect example, on how we treat everything, like it's permanent, and how none of it really matters in the long run!

It's so refreshing seeing the difference between an honest, intelligent, and observant pastor, and not an ignorant, fear mongering zealot. Thank you very much, this was exactly what I needed to be talked through today.

This is good lesson some people want to control not everyone going to have ur best interest. I rather please the person that can destroy body and soul. God is not like people he is love people are fickle. I refuse to be someone's puppet on a string.

I have been suffering from this all my life and many times I’ve tried to take my life. But, this video was the answer to my prayers. I only need to please God. Prayers welcome for deliverance and maturity. I pray that my life will count for Him. Praise God.

Do you fear people and desire to change?
Meditating outloud on the Word of God.(mainly the promises of God and the character of God) daily have done more for me than ANY other spiritual discipline. This is rarely taught in the church today yet so important to developing a renewed mind. Romans 12:2, Psalms 1, Joshua 1:8.

I have been doing this for more than a year and the changes in my life have been nothing short of awesome. We MUST get the Word into our heart if we are going to see long lasting change in our life. Good bible teaching allows the Word to enter our minds but meditating gets it permanently rooted into our heart.

I keep on coming back to this sermon every once in a while, because it’s inspiring as far as helping me to stick up for myself and wanting more for myself.

I knew a girl who had this problem. She ended up living with us because of her abusive parents. I actually broke her of this habit by training her to say no to me. After a year of her living with us she was a pro at it! I consider to be a sister today and we talk often.

Needed this now and WISH heard this in my 20s, but glad have message now. 30:55-32:33 summed up my life from birth to 28. And now I see God pulled me from a lifetime of trying to please my parents by communication being cut off from them not accepting I have depression and me going on disability and moving. I've since then have new saying...Doesn't matter what my parents think of me what does God think of me. Thank You Pastor Rick!

My people pleasing behavior is not just trying to make people happy or gain approval. I'm trying to prevent conflict and suffering because there are many power- tripping, aggressive and angry bullies out there.

Salam( peace). I am a practicing Muslim and have this clip as my regular reminder for last 5 or six years. Everything the pastor says is matching to my islamic values (except obvious differences about divinity) However i never came across any Muslim scholar ( i hear a lot of them) described this common illness against faith in God so beautifully and eloquently. It made me a better servant of God/Allah. I am so lucky that i came across this and religious pastor like him exist and serving the common humanity for the greater good.

I relate, Pastor Rick, but I can't quite get my head round the fact that all that was written on one side of the paper ...you have amazing eyesight! 👓
