Conclusion: Yes mining down is faster but only for a short range, if you want a wider range of area then yes the tnt launcher is better

Etho came up with a brilliant solution, he uses the new AutoCrafter to craft TNT minecarts at world height.
TNT Minecarts have a bigger explosion the more they fall, instead of dropped TNT that just explodes in a certain amount of time making the range limited

Maybe you could. Like. Dig all the way down normally, and then when you get to the bottom, place TNT, light it, and block jump up so you don't get exploded.

Also, you still need to obatin the materials for the tnt duper in the first place. So although dupers are good for large holes or long term projects (farms can be used), just small holes the size of around 6 beacons may not be as effiecient

My terraria part of my brain nearly just commented "use the shroomite digging claw with accessories and potions" 💀

If there is water or lava, digging is way faster! Also Its much cleaner and doesn’t leave a big, ugly hole!

The material and enchantments on your pickaxe also probably affect time. A normal diamond pick can't compete with an Efficiency IV Netherite pick, and if you gotta build 6 beacons at bedrock you probably have something close to that already

We need a graph showing the exact point digging down and tnt machines take the same amount of time.

Mining straight down
Lava : 💀🗿
Water:💀

It’s only faster because the TnT duper prevents you from having to mine the blocks where you will place the beacon. Try again but use TnT to mine out the area the beacon will be placed.

If you think about it, digging straight down is faster because you just need a pickaxe while setting up the TNT machine takes alot of time

but to build the duper you also need to get the materials ready to build the duper, which takes more than 2 minutes. you can start straight away if you dig straight down. also, you don't have to learn how to build the duper if you just dig down, that takes pretty much zero time to learn

Craft a respawn anchor and a put glowstone in to when your at the bottom so you dont have to dig out the base of the becon and put a tnt into the wall every 5-10 blocks while digging to save time

Building tnt machine for him 5 minutes
For us 30 minutes😂

For the one with multiple beacons you can first create one, set it to haste 2, fly up and dig out the rest.

Bro didn't want to lose the argument😂😂

Would've been better to see a speedrun category in this and see whether it's better to just start digging or waste precious seconds getting a pickaxe to dig faster

Dig down then blow up the space for a beacon. Best of both worlds

Reason why: for every beacon that effectively adds on by lots, but for the duper it blows up a large range
