20K views! and on my very birthday too :D
30K! I never thought that when I made this video
Thanks very much for all feedback everyone!
It means alot for me. You guys are awesome! Best regards

hello and welcome to my video where i have built a vibration speaker or "any surface speaker" by converting a regular speaker with a pin and remove the cone and more.
hope you enjoy it :)

special thanks to donellismusic for letting me use his music to make this video :)
the music i play in this video was: Rebirth (Dubstep) - Don Ellis

Feel free to like comment and maybe consider subscribing to stay updated for future videos. Thanks for watching/reading/listening and have a nice day ^__^

After some thought it seems I'll be able to make one no problem. I'm glad I stumbled across this video. I can't believe I puzzled over contact speakers for so long. Will have to keep an eye out (if you decide to make one) for a comparison video. Kind of cool someone has made a contact speaker with better bass than most I've seen on the Internet.

thanks alot :) you have fully understanded my construction, more weight is the key for better bass, also the strength of the driver itself ofcourse, if i play too loud with my speaker it starts to jump around if i don't put extra weight on it, the same goes for the paddy actually.
i had to experiment with a good foot to use on it, it ended up with the top of a ring transformer. it needs a hard good surface to transfer the sound as good as possible, also keep the weight on the suspension low

correct. quality of sound depends on the surface it's placed on. thin hard surfaces are the best :) thanks for your comment

Nice to see people experimenting with old ideas. Nice design.

Thanks! i actually went out and bought a Paddy Vibe contact speaker after i build this one to make tests of the two speakers, mine is without doubt the most powerful and have alot more deep bass, though it have to be connected to external amp and are a bit bigger aswell but the paddy is impressive loud too so if you would like a comparison video i guess i could make one to put up on my channel, with frequense tests aswell. to make one is easy, (a how to make video is possible if needed :)

I use a speaker with a whizzer cone to make this one, it's a regular paper cone, I glue the rod with the washer on to the whizzer cone that and then cut away the rest to lower weight on the suspension, that increase performance range and also reduce the sound from the actual unit. then it is connected to a regular amplifier :)

thanks and no problem :) I actually tried to make one from a 10" speaker but I got no good sound from that. thing is that the suspension and shaft need to be as light as possible to not interfere with the sound but also the properties of the speaker counts alot. the result was more of a subwoofer instead. so a magnetic driven shaft sounds like a plan if you gonna run a larger one :) I may wanna try something like that if I get time to build! thanks :D supermagnets and coil linked to.. awesome

I guess I add that to the wish list and see what i can do :)

Agreed! The sound in this video are not the best. I did not expect this video to become this popular when i made it. I'm gonna make it up for you guys and make a new video with a better song and probably compare my home made vibration speaker with a "Paddy Vibe"aswell :) thanks for your comment!

Thanks for your feed-back. There are a lot of speaker hackers on YT but not many dare to venture into the hi-fi region. lol  My speakers cost $200 just for the crossover (witch is unavoidable). But the med and treble is like high-end stuff and the 3" full range speakers cost $2 each (second-hand). lol

Better bass than a Paddy Vibe? As far as I can tell contact speakers never go lower than 80Hz (Paddy Vibe is 80Hz-18KHz), though I'm not sure the difference in size of the two speakers. From my understanding of resonance is extra weight lowers the frequency response, which explains why yours is bigger than the Paddy Vibe.Maybe solid state would be a more space efficient design, though it may require making a speaker from scratch.

the guide how to make one is now up for you all :) thanks for all your feedback everyone!

is the coil in rest position when the speaker stand on the foot?
you may need to adjust the center of the coil to increase power.
when I build mine i find the foot very important for the sound to transfer good to the table or what ever you put it on. I tried to use various stuff first but it would not be loud. the top from the ring transformer was the best for me. also if the suspension got very stiff for you you may try to take off some more plexi glass to make it softer. hope this can help :)
