Dave finds NY style pizza in Chicago again, but this may be more Times Square than John's of Bleecker.

Dave calling this “Times Square pizza” will probably make the owners happy. That’s probably exactly what they were going for.

While the Slice Spot has retained its name, it’s not the same owner who built up the name and brand. Joe, the original owner, now owns PIE LIFE Pizzera in Glen Ellyn and Carol Stream. Go see Joe for a delicious NJ slice.🙌🍕

I went to high school in West Chicago, grew up east on Roosevelt Road in Winfield. That place is in the same strip mall that used to be the home of Pal Joey's, the best pizza within a country mile. Pal Joey's was the place to be on weekends or for special events. Their specialty was a semi-thick but not quite deep dish pizza. And there was Luigi's nearby for tavern style ("The bank doesn't make pizza and Luigi's doesn't take credit cards!") Not sure why you're in that 'hood, Dave, but you made me miss Pal Joey's decades after I last visited.

One thing I've learned about Dave and his reviews, Dae does not like cheese on his cheese pizza😅😅

Dave right by the house, crazy! Slice Spot is pretty good, can be hit or miss though. Al's is another good local place nearby for Tavern style.

From the look of the pizza, i would've loved it. I'm surprised it got a lower score. I know i never tasted the pizza, but damn i kinda wanted to order one.
