i always draw eyes first, idk when or where i learned to do it, but it really makes drawing cartoons much faster and more expressive

Something to note is that the reason this works so well is in part the style. If the characters are designed such that their eyes are
1. The biggest individual feature of their design
2. The most expressive part of their design
3. The focal point of their design
then this technique will likely work for you. In other, more intricate art styles this isn't going to work very well

When I've been drawing eyes first in my early drawings, I've been told to draw structure of a head and body first. Now they tell me that drawing eyes first is a much better technic. YOU KIDDING ME??

I draw the eyes last always for my stick figures. If I were to make an animation with expressions ENTIRELY from the eyes, this is a REALLY good tip!

Ive been drawing eyes first for alot of my early drawings, in some cases it didnt help but with enought time and learning a bit of art, from perspective to anatomy etc etc. you start to realized eyes are essentially a guideline to making heads and faces alot more easier And a bit more accurate to do, it can also (in my experience) help head shape, size and even hair, which i tend to squish and stretch when doing faces, this has been a big improvement with what ive learned and can really help you progress quicker on an artwork and animation

That is true, i used to draw eyes first and just improvise the rest, and those drawings came x100 better and more expresive
