Great video! I have been looking for a system for my home - most interfaces are clunky, and though many talk about being able to handle multiple 4k streams, in reviews, results are mixed (Amcrest systems, etc). I am looking to have about 6 cameras, possibly all 4k. Also, seems like they have a decent price range that doesn't break the bank? Does this system ONLY work with Unifi cameras, or, can you mix and match? Just curious!

What do you think of the unifi G4 bullet? I have a lot of them and they have held up well in extreme environmental conditions.

The problem with EUFY security is that it uses its own wifi system from its Homebase. You cannot use your own wifi infrastructure. Found that out after I purchased. EUFY also uses only 2.4Ghz range and wpa2, so it is not exactly secure as WPA3 is much better. I am going to install unifi cameras on my UDM SE, to compliment my eufy cameras which are otherwise working well.

The internet dependency is a weird one for UniFi. I'm running a local account only on UDM and my cameras are on an isolated VLAN. I can still use the protect app on my phone with wireguard just fine from anywhere. But the internet dependancy does rear it's ugly head with notifications not working, or at least I think that is the issue. I am also unable to use any smart detect features with my current setup, I only get motion detections. To enable smart detect I have to use a unifi account instead of local admin account on the UDMpm. In principle I am against running access to my dream machine through their online services as they have proven they have a backdoor into the machine when users randomly got served other peoples camera feeds in their protect. Not even sure that backdoor isn't open when running local account anyway so considering just going with their online service to get some extra features.

I'm not sure "internet is required to use the cameras" is actually true. You can use the NVR system and the Unifi Protect environment locally, you just have to know how to

I know this is a year later. But does it still counts that you need internet connection to run the cameras? I dont care about setup. But lets say my internet connection is down. That means the cameras wont work?

Dont waste money with eufy, they love to screw up their cameras with updates, i lost audio of 3 cameras after an update from them
