It’s nice to have. But since the G4 Pro it’s bigger than the non pro. They should have the port built in.

Ubiquiti should have build in the PoE interface in instead of the USB-C. Other brands showed it doesn't have to lead to bigger units.

There is also a difference at the cables beside the length.
The one for the G4 Instant the second end is at 90* to fit in the camera.
The one for the G4 Doorbell Pro have both ends straight. 😊

The cost is pretty high as someone else mentioned. It’s basically over $100 after tax in Canadian dollars, plus whatever we are paying to get it shipped here.

That being said, it’s a game changer for sure. Auto theft is a MASSIVE issue here right now. Thieves are using wifi jammers rendering any wifi connected security, useless. So perhaps the $100+ CAD price tag becomes justifiable.

Can you test this with a G3 Instant? I have 2 and would like to hardwire one but want to confirm it works

so here in Australia - we are paying $650 for the doorbell - 125 for the adaptor and 90 dollars for the 7 meter cable (if you can work out how to get it

Right now, one of my G4 Instant cameras is right on the edge of my Wi-Fi, where I get a disconnect/reconnect message about once a day. I can't move the camera closer and I can't move the AP closer to the camera, but I can absolutely run a cable to it, so this is going to completely fix this one particular problem for me.
I bought the camera a year ago so that cost is gone from my mind and I looking forward to having this available as a solution.

Can we just use a comparable powered nic to C adapter? or did they just lock it down to only use the UNIFI product?

Regarding the straight USB Type C Connector which must be plugged into the back of the G4 DB Pro: i can only run the cable from underneath into the doorbell and unfortunately not directly through the wall behind it. Has anybody experience or tested some of those available Type C to Type C 90 degrees adapters?

With the POE adapter for G4 Pro doorbell, can you connect to network and power through that but also work with a mechanical doorbell?

What about the Protect Chime and the G4 pro Doorbell, Does that not work now, that it's hard wired in with the PoE to USB C adapter?

My house didn't have a wired doorbell so I ran a new 120V plug up from the light switches next to the door. Then I installed a bell and transformer. Then ran the doorbell wire down and out to the G3 Door Bell. My second outlet is used for a WiFi temperature sensor using ESPHome. It looks clean up near the ceiling.

So the camera is sending out video data over USB C and the adaptor is converting it to go over Ethernet? What I would do is plug the camera into a powered USB C hub connected to a PC and see if it’s working like a webcam, for science…

Can you still drive a mechanical doorbell via a transformer if you add POE? Or can I power it from the transformer and only use the cable for data?

I have no issue with WiFi but I think the response time will be snappier over Ethernet.

I do find the motion detection slow (few seconds pass before it lights up HELLO). I’m using that trigger to drive my chime on multiple HomePods through homebridge. If I can make this more responsive, it will be worth the hassle to get the cable there.

What happens if you turn POE off on the port and leave the transformer connected, will you still get data over Ethernet ?

Whats the difference to UACC-Adapter-DBPOE?

Is this a standard USB-C on the adapter? Can you use it with other devices too? For example with an iPad Pro to charge it while having a wired network connection?

Would this adapter work for the Nest Hello doorbell? I recently had my home renovated and my father in law installed cat5 cable INSTEAD of the regular doorbell system and I want to continue to use my nest hello doorbells but I don't have a solution for them.

I'm mainly looking for a longer cable for the G4 instant. Anyone know if this 4.5M cable will work with the original wall wart?
