For all the 'help' he had, he still had to run at a pace of 4:34 min/mile for 2 hours. That is a superhuman task - I can keep that up for about 1 minute or two before I'm done. There's only like a few dozen people in history that have even broken the 2:10 mark

Technically he ran a marathon distance time trial. Typically when somebody says they ran a "marathon" it means they ran a race against other people. The way the rules are written you cannot set a world best unless you do it in a race. But it was still a hell of an accomplishment.
