How To Teach Cop Cop/Your Feet on Mine

Here's a tutorial of how to teach cop cop or your feet on mine. I came up with this method on my own and it has worked well with Tessa. If you have any questions, please leave a comment or message me. Thanks!

Here are some tips:
- Go at your dog's pace
- If you dog takes her paws off of your feet when you step forward, try making little movements with your feet first (wiggle your toes, then make little steps in place).
- I forgot to include in the tutorial how to add the verbal cue. Once your dog is successfully and confidentially putting their paws on your feet and walking with you, say the verbal cue "Cop-cop" and have your do into position and walk, click and jackpot.

Were you using my method (standing on a stool/book)? Tessa had a similar problem when she was first learning it but when I used the stool she had no problem. If that isn't your problem, do your dogs ever put their paws on your feet, even for a second? If so, click or say "Yes" for that. Use a high value reward like cheese or real meat. Try using a smaller stool, with just enough space for your feet, then your dogs wouldn't have room to put their paws anywhere else but your feet. Hope this helps!

- Use a treat to lure your dog into position. Experiment moving the treat up, down and side to side - whatever works!
- Are you wearing shoes or slippers? This will help give your dog a good foothold
- If your dog already knows a foot target, ask her to target your foot. If she won't target your foot, try taking your shoe off, putting it on the ground and asking her to target it. After a few repetitions put the shoe on again and try again.

I'm not sure. I have always known this trick as "cop cop". It is a strange name.
