THE BEST Jamaican CURRY GOAT recipe Made easy!

INGREDIENTS
3lbs Goat meat
1 tspSalt
1tspBlack Pepper
1tsp Pimento
1 tsp All purpose seasoning
4-5 Tbsp Curry powder
PROCESS (Please follow these instructions for cooking)
Cook Curry powder in oil for 2-3 minutes
Wash goat meat with water and lemon
put goat meat in a bowl and add
1tspSalt
1tspBlack Pepper
1 tsp Pimento
1 tsp All purpose seasoning
4-5 Tbsp Curry powder (which has already been cooked prior for 2-3minutes)
1tsp Dry thyme
Then mix together
Marinate meat in fridge for upto 8 hours (optional)
Then add 4 Tbsp of vegetable oil in a pot
Then on medium high heat put goat meat into pot and cook until brown
Then Add 2 cups of water to the pot then cook for up to 2 hrs stiring every 20 mins (low-medium heat)
Then add
Half a chopped onion
1 cup of mix peppers
1 cup of spring onion
1 cup of Tomatoes
half cup of freshThyme
4 Garlic cloves
1 Scotch bonnet
Then bring meat to a boiling point then add
4 small potatoes chopped in half
Then cook for 30-40mins more until meat falling off bone.
Add more water if necessary
Take out Scotch bonnet pepper (DO NOT EAT SCOTCH BONNET WHOLE - IT IS HOT!)
Serves 6 people

I’ve been eating curry goat for YEARS (over 55+) and have never been able to successfully make it (don’t even start on my rice and peas 😂) so usually have to wait for Caribbean mates to cook it or travel for miles and miles to buy it, take it home and reheat it……

…..then I found your book! I’ve cooked it three times now and it hasn’t failed ONCE - my wife even says it’s the best curry goat she’s ever tasted (she’s lying, but I’ll take that) and my rice and peas is also spot on!

I’m steadily working my way through the book and your Youtube channel, have as many if not more Caribbean ingredients than my Dad ever had (he kept all his spices in little brown paper bags in a big tin) and am loving it.

Love Jamaican curry goat, I noticed the butchers nowadays in the UK who sell mutton (lamb) they have realised that customers, especially Caribbean folks love a few of the pieces of the circular cut bones with the marrow fat in the middle, so what the facety butchers do is hold back on these pieces and sell you the boney pieces with no marrow, they want you buy about 5 kilos of mutton before you get a couple of the marrow bones. Watch dem butchers.

My gf wanted to cook my favorite dish I sent her this video and she smashed it first time. Our 9 mnth boy and our 7 yr old daughter tried this dish for the first time and they clapped it off baring in mind our daughters a fussy eater but this time she actually tried it and it is now her favorite dish and everyone elses of course.

Thank you!!! This recipe is perfect: quick, easy, and tastes authentic (I did cheat and also marinade the meat in ready-made curry goat seasoning powder!). I used lamb as can’t get goat in the Shires I live in but it was just as good :) I’ll be buying your book (made my first good rice and peas yesterday thanks to your recipe too)!

Came out of a negative make do circumstance.. but now is one of the tastiest dishes out there.. so many ways to make it.. I season mine a good few days before then just put it in a low heat for about 5 to 6 hours stirring occasionally

Hi when do you put in the ginger?? I’ve got the book and it states 1tablespoon of ginger. When do you put that in?
