M1 Abrams Vs. T-14 Armata Tank: Who Wins?

preview_player
Показать описание
Both the M1 Abram and T-14 Armata are highly capable tanks, but they possess different strengths and weaknesses. The M1 Abrams has proven technical superiority in mobility and cross-country performance and has been in service for over 40 years. The T-14 Armata, on the other hand, has superiority in crew protection and survivability, better armor protection with unmanned turret, larger main gun, advanced electronics suite, and more futuristic design compared to M1 Abrams. However, the T-14 is a relatively new design with several issues and had not yet been adopted by the Russian army as of 2022, with its future uncertain due to technical difficulties and funding constraints.

And so they did

You forgot the Trophy system on M1 Abrams.

What T-14 Armata? It's just a tank good for parades and fantasy world of Russia. No battle experience yet!

The M1 Abrams and M1A2 Abrams are strong, reliable, and tested tanks which have been produced and used in large numbers for over 20 years. The T-14 is a cool looking tank shown in parades, never widely used in combat. I think the good old Abrams wins this one easily.

Conversation between Putin and his general.
''how are things over there'' ''everything is on fire, but everything is fine''.

There are well over 10 000 Abrams tanks in the world. As for the T-14 there are only 8 visually confirmed.

Abrams is a reliable and powerful tank. Tested in battle. Armata is a trough for parades, they are even afraid to send it to Ukraine so as not to be embarrassed.
It is only worth something on paper. but in fact junk.

You drank the T-14 Kool-Aid. All those capabilities have to be true and function for a true comparison.

Great report, did Armata manufacturers offer the technical information?

T14 a parade tank, which even broke down at a parade. It's a joke

Just my view! Abram is a great tank. T-80 A Great tank. So is the Black Panther. But lets be real. A Striker with a 120 Smooth bore gun is just as affected as any Tank. Far as speed terrane and cost. Modern Tech is a plus. But with all Military equipment. Planes Helicopters Tanks even Ships. The Crew is what matters. A Great Crew in a M60 Patten up against a Green crew in a Abrams . It matters greatly. Like in WW2. The King Tiger and Tiger 1 were awesome tanks. But I'll never understand why Germany didn't redesign the Turret on a Panther 3 to hold a 88. 3 panther 3 could be built for every 1 Tiger 1. Only way we will ever know what the best is is when they meet on a battlefield. Just my view. Shalom

This comparison is laughable.

No active protection system?
Rafael's Trophy Active Protection system has been available since 2011.

Unmanned turret?
Strykers have had the M1128 Mobile Gun System since 2005. That was 18 years ago. If it had been impressive then it would have been at the top of the list for an M1 upgrade. It is much easier to add a turret on top of the hull than to put a larger bathtub inside the hull but even that has been done such as the transition from M48 with 90mm to M60 with 105mm guns. There is no such plan in place.

Larger gun?
No. Even though the Russian 125mm has a larger bore, the muzzle energy is the same, about 1.2 megajoules. This is true of both the German 55 caliber and the American 44 caliber variant.

Secondly, the German Panther II prototype has a larger, 130mm gun. Again this upgrade would be similar to M60 upgrade, but there is no plan for such an upgrade.

Higher power to weight ratio?
This is ridiculous. Although the Armata theoretically has the same 1, 500 HP as the M1, this is not true in reality. The M1's engine has been reasonably reliable since the A1 upgrade. In contrast, the Armata uses the A-85-3 X16 diesel that has been pushed beyond its limits, giving it both high maintenance and poor reliability. It is even less reliable than the obsolete GTD-1250 turbine engine used in the T-80. There is no room inside the engine bay to use the reliable V-92S2F V12 diesel from the T-90 so the only option for that much horsepower within the engine bay would be a gasoline engine which they can't use because of logistics. Without a redesign for a different engine, it's a complete failure.

More advanced electronics?
In what drug induced fantasy? The electronics that the Armata would need are western and it can't get them due to sanctions. Again, these are western electronics and so are quite available to the US. Due to sanctions, Russia has reverted back to a 40-year old night vision system which it can build internally. However, this system is so outdated that consumer grade systems in the west are actually better to say nothing of military grade systems.

And it's actually worse than that. Every existing Armata was hand-built. There is no assembly line. Why? Because Russia can't build the tooling domestically. So, Russia would have to get the tooling from the west but hasn't been able to because of the sanctions. Currently it is short about 200 suppliers. And, again, this is western tooling which is available to the US. But even if by some miracle Trump became president tomorrow with a Republican majority in both houses and not only got the sanctions lifted but was able to give support to Russia, nothing would change. This is because Russia's tank factories are currently running at capacity building new T-72 and T-90 tanks while trying to refurbish the older T-62 tanks. There aren't enough extra skilled workers to set up a whole new assembly line.

This was little more than a fluff piece for the T-14.

as a himars driver in Ukraine I can say that the armata will burn out immediately

If the T14 Armada is so great, then how come they are not in Ukraine in mass in 2023?! Russia, doing what it does best, crossing it's borders and invading it's neighbors, should be sending waves of their amazing new tanks, but instead are sending WW2 tanks! Perhaps the T14's are so stealthy that no one can see them, even the Russians!

It appears that this tank and the overall Russian capability in Ukraine has shown the world that their tanks and other equipment is just a failure. They are not a superior force just a embarrassment to their own country.

still forgot to say that "Armara" has an invisible mode, so no one saw them and is unlikely to ever see on the battlefield😂

You guys who put this video together need to correct the identity of the old, venerable M60 Tank, which was known as the M60 Patton, not the M60 "patent".

LoL so much bull crap propaganda about the Russian tank and you out right lied about the M1 not having reactive armor didn’t mention the armor type or thickness, and the fact that Russia can’t put out enough of those medium tanks to matter.

The Russian army has ordered hundereds of T-14s, not a single one has been delivered. Russia is not capable of producing them. Yes, it has been adopted by the Russian Army.

Remote operated turret eh? That should reduce the amount of Russians in space after a turret gets hit and launches its crew into orbit.
