Funnily enough, I was awaken to this through a Futurama episode.

It's the episode where the Omicron Persieye 8 people just recieved a broadcast from Earth during the year 2000, by the year 3000 the show is set in.

They had a 1000 year delay of the radio waves, and were enraged because their soap opera cut out. So they invaded Earth in revenge, to get back at a populace that didn't understand why they were so angry at them.

Carl Sagan and Johnny Carson were good friends. and he was a repeat guest on the tonight show. he was AWESOME!!!! and he was a great inspiration to me.
