I'm in Thailand (northern mountains - Chiang Mai area), got locked down here in March, I pay around 800 Baht ($25 usd) per month for unlimited 4G (it could be 5G, but my phones only support 4G, ) and while I'm not sure the speed it's rated for, but when I'm on the road enjoying the wilderness of Northern Thailand I usually have my main phone sharing its' wifi with 2 other cell phones and a laptop sharing this connection. Usually, the 2 phones are constantly watching Youtube videos and on the Laptop I'm usually doing something productive while streaming music.

I also have home FTTH (1Gb down 200Mb up unlimited) and the last time I paid for it I pre-paid for 3 months which cost me ~1200 Bhat ($38 usd ... no, not per month, that's the full 3 months.)

Now, one would expect that being in Northern Thailand the level of service and uptime would be the big problem, but as far as uptime goes in the 7 months I've been here there has been one short outage (about an hour.) I will say though that their system to make payments is pretty F-ed up ... I can't seem to get them to take automatic payment from my bank account or CC, and while in theory I can just pay online manually using either bank account or CC they seem to have an issue with keeping my account available (ie. I can log in one week, then the next week my credentials will no longer work, and even using the normal reset your password process will fail, so I will have to make an appointment to go in and get my account reset )... I just gave up trying to automate the payments and just go to the local 17-11 or carrier kiosk in the shopping centers and pay there.

We are being screwed over in North America big time!!

I wonder if a Raspberry Pi with a proximity sensor programed to speak Jar Jar Binks would help Mike out. It could say something like.. "Yous gup to closen tada laptop, moven gup now!" ;) Good show guys!

Pizza? We just got enough "growth" to actually have a pizza place. But in the situation "covid-19" they no longer deliver. In addition to shortages, my once a month visit is now 3x times a week, just to get "part" of what I would get once a month. Let's just say I've been abusing Amazon for my "needs", without regard for the costs of that "lack of choice"?
