The race heads back into Italy for stage 14 of the Giro, starting in Sierre and ending in Cassano Magnago 193.2km later. The Simplonpass (20.2km at 6.5) falls early in the stage, but with no real challenges in the final 100km, this should be another opportunity for the sprinters.

Denz reminded me of MVDP in Amstel. Pulling the chasing group from far out and then beating everyone in the sprint. Massive! Where was he in the last years with this sprint and some climbing abilities?

Huge props to EF in this Giro, they're making a good showing for sure. And I actually like their bikes, usually I yawn at them, but I'm digging the Lab71 setups.

Now that is the look of a guy who's just realized a life dream and can hardly believe it. Well done Bruno Amirail!

Dear cycling gods, please let Derek Gee get his stage win soon 🙏 🇨🇦

Smart move for Ineos losing the Pink to FDJ as it means that they have much more freedom tomorrow head to head against TJV. Bruno Armirail looked shocked on the podium - "I'm here and I cannot believe it"

A Movistar rider helping an EF rider with his rain jacket, warms the cockles of my heart.

Non-GC riders are saving the Giro as far as excitement goes.

Nico going for it once again, top notch! This is summer weather for the Germans I guess 😂

Very excited for the race to start any day now.

I don't get why it keeps happening that riders take a risk by cheering too early. He could 've easily lost it if second place rider was just a little faster in the sprint there in the end.

gotta love the lil sprint on the left in the gc group for a bike throw lol

Denz looked to be very nearly celebrating second spot there. An odd move posting up before the line with a finish that close 🙈🙈

WOAH Derek, you are just amazing, three 2nd places at your first Giro in tough conditions, nevermind Germany, you are putting Canada in the history books.
Your dad (Jon) must be proud !!

If Gee can get his sprint going, it's over

The Classic season as a point of reference, the Giro has been thus far a grave disappointment.

I wonder if this is a record for the most time someone has gained on a stage to take the leaders jersey. I hope the rest of the race gets flooded out and this guy wins. Horrible weather, crap stage profiles, no gc action other than roglic glued to Thomas’s butt.

breaking news - entire peleton misses time cut ! maybe it's just me but a 20 minute gap makes it feel like only a few people were actually racing bikes today
