I'm a writer over 40 and I think I've got a handle on modern life. But I don't see how it can hurt to know something about how we got here. There may even be some story ideas here. I recently saw a documentary (British, of course, PBS fan) about how a mathematician working on the Enigma code during World War II discovered the principle by which GPS systems work. I wouldn't want to live in the past because I know enough about it to see that it wasn't Eden. But I do think that some things are constant in human existence advances in technology not withstanding. It does annoy me just a little when some 20-something tells me because I haven't died yet I'm of no possible importance to anyone. It reminds me of me when I was 20 and I was an unbelievable ass.

they are talking about knowing how to use the internet, and then they say do not tell your real age. Uh yeah if they know your name they can find out your age online
