I'm working on it! .... Jack LaLane was a San Francisco icon, he was often spotted in the SF bay, I'm a 63-year young woman who hikes and bikes up mountains, swings 20-24KG kettlebells, does 40 consecutive pushups, a couple pull-ups (working on those) .. Although I cannot do what I did in my 20's, 30s, 40's, and 50's I am continuing to push myself appropriately. Getting on and off the floor easily, and being able to stay in a deep squat, are valuable parts of the equation. Strong bones and good proprioception is key. Thank you Peter for spreading the word and reinforcing the lifestyle that many of us preach, . it's crazy how fast time flies, it seems like yesterday I was in my 30s.

The audio book is fantastic, Peter's experience in presenting content over podcasts makes it an extremely pleasant listen, the content covered is truely life changing.

Your audiobook is fantastic, Dr Attia.

Suprisingly chapter 17 stuck the most with me, I think the reason is the steps you described that took you from ignoring mental health to wanting to improve it. That one successful friend of yours who uttered "I have to be successful so I don't feel useless" stuck a cord with me and made me rethink a few things I ignored for a long time. It gives the whole experience of the book a touch of brilliance, and it is always encouraging to see people I look up to struggle through their own personal demons.

The metaphor of how arteries clog was eyeopening to me. I am definitively checking my Lp(a) and CAC score in the near future. Your insights about Medicine 3.0 made me really rethink a lot about how I deal with my own habits, my body and my mind. I have some of the 4 horseman of death running in my family, and even tho it is scary and somewhat unfair not to have been dealt a better hand at birth, I still want to play it the best way possible. Since I have no medical background, I really struggle through the descriptions of some events, processes and building blocks of our organisms. Even tho it might be unintuitive, I think your math-background (along with your excellent story telling ability) helps me be less ignorant on these existential topics.

I am currently relistening, probably not the last time I relisten either.
I am really thankful that your project with Outlive was not dropped and we all have this masterpiece to consume.
Thank you!

This is fantastic. I have the audiobook. I’m thinking of getting the written version as well. I am 62 almost 63. Maybe not as strong as I should be. But I am always lifting weights. I use treadmill often. I want to work on my VO2 Max. Stunning book this. Thank you so for educating us. Amazing book.

My dad and I have picked this for our personal book club reading this month. Thank you for your research and your passion for sharing quality data and analysis with the broader public. I loved your last chapter but am sad to see it as a small percentage of the book. I work for a large community mental health agency and would love to talk about how to implement minimally effective dosages to create meaningful change in a traumatized community as the subject for my dissertation. I hope you are interested in connecting.

As a former CNA number one on my list would be to wipe my own @$$. I know that seems crude, but it's one of the most embarrassing and intimate issues for persons to deal with when encountering nursing home life or some type of handicap.
Number two would be to get up off the floor. That way when I do fall I don't have to call for help 🤷

Excelente libro.

For goal #11, how fast do you need to swim over half a mile if you are age 45, if you wish to be able to swim half a mile in 20 minute by age 85?

Old Jumping Jack LeLanne should never be mentioned without pointing out what he himself always pointed out. Jack became a vegetarian at a young age.

Omg the bible says about Moses that his "strength was not gone and his eyes were not dim" he was humble and a friend of God. I think he drank colostrum from goats

Picked this book up on audible. It’s excellent. Well worth the wait. I was however disappointed that Dr. Attia cut out all the parts about his life as a shepherd. Maybe he’ll include it in the next one.
