CloudFlare How To Fix ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH 2020 - CloudFlare SSL Mismatch Error

The Cloudflare ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH error is common right after Cloudflare was installed on your domain. There are typically two causes.

The first cause is right after installation, Cloudflare hasn't issued your edge certificate you can temporarily avoid the error by pausing Cloudflare on the domain until under the edge certificate tab it reads "active".

The second cause is you installed Cloudflare onto a domain but your SSL settings are incorrect. Remember, if your server doesn't have an SSL (like on GoDaddy), you need to have the domain set to "flexible". If there is an SSL certificate even one assigned by the host it needs to be set to at least Full.

Remember the most common cause of this issue is when you first install Cloudflare and the "edge certificate" has not been issued yet. To make it go away temporarily try pausing Cloudflare on your domain (typically it only takes 20 minutes or so to issue the SSL). The second cause is you selected the wrong Encryption Mode. Remember, if you have no SSL on your server (like those of you on GoDaddy) you need to select Flexible. If you did have an SSL certificate it needs to be at least set to "full" and the error will go away. if you have any questions feel free to ask below!

Mate, your knowledge is fantastic to someone like me who can just about handle a right click on the mouse when it comes to my computing skills. Question - I built an account with me private email and password, then when I had the site opened, my little brother thought it was funny to delete it. Now I have a deleted account and badly need to get back in and I badly need to use that email as it my main business one but when I try to login it says I can't as that email is already in use but if the account has been cancelled, isn't there a way to reactivate it??? Thanks for the great video and information. However, my website has a valid SSL cert. where it is shown as "Active" and not expired in Edge certificates in Cloudflare. But I still got the error message "The connection to is not secure..." on browser. The encryption mode is "full" at the moment. Would you please help.

my SSL cipher error occurred after testing a domain between wordpress sites on different hosts
i deleted the (DS) records at godaddy and turned off cloudflare DNSSEC
the edge certificate on cloudflare is still pending now but within 1 minute my site was working again on full mode without issue
