💭 Giordano’s held the title “Chicago’s Best Deep Dish” for a quick 24 hours up until we had Gino’s East. In a quick side by side comparison let’s go over what’s better about Gino’s East.
- Sauce : a darker red that looks and tastes more homemade like they have a grandma in the back making it
- Crust : a crunchier crust with a slight cornmeal grittiness.
- Cheese : better ratio of dough to cheese. Not as heavy. A more well balanced slice
- Veggies : finely chopped veggies instead of large chunks at Giordano’s.

Current Power Rankings:
1) Gino’s East (~8.3)
2) Giordano’s (~7.4)
Next up: Lou Malnati’s .

I came home on leave when I was in the Marines in 1971.
My brother and his future wife took me to Gino's East.
I'm a N/W side kid who has only eaten Mary's Pizza on Fullerton and Father & Son pizza on Milwaukee at Sacramento.
Still remember my first slice Gino's pizza better than my first girlfriend.

Back in the 1970's, Gino's original location was on Michigan & Superior. Their pizzas were really good THEN. They cheapened them up in the early 1980's. Whey do these places do stuff like that?
