That last line is applicable to almost every aspect of life. In my life driving is where we encounter the most “not the smartest” people.

A lot of times, people arent the smartest OR the kindest.

i was cantering my horse in an arena at my old barn, and a young child ran under the fence right in front of my horse. luckily i got him to stop on a dime, but scary.

Smart Lady!!! My dad taught me when i started driving in 1979. " one in five people driving towards you are drunk or on drugs and the other four are STUPID! Same with horses and life in general. You say it so much nicer! God bless you and your horse! I had horses for years.
Also people have no regard for others, like keeping a dog on a leash.

“Not the smartest” people lack special awareness, and have decided not to consider their actions or the consequences. “Do I know what I’m doing? Let’s do it anyway!” Sadly, for anybody that owns a car, we know how common they are lol

Ah, yes. Ive had people come up and just start touching my horse and getting wayy too close for comfort without even asking. The children and dogs, though.. theyre a whole new level unfortunately :')

That’s good to know because horses spook so easily and you both could get injured

Oh. My. God... this.
The barn i work at is also a public park (whose genuis idea fhat was i do not know, but THEY didn't know crap about horses, clearly) so people jog on the roads and trails.
I feed and turn in/out, and a couple weeks ago i was leading a pony named Charlie (thank god it was him and not the psycho Thoroughbred mare who kicked me in the chest last year, we ALL would have died) down a relatively narrow lane to the pony pasture- some A**HOLE zips past us, fast as he can run, and has the freaking gall (or ignorance, i have to remember, like you said, that muggles know nothing about horses...) to YELL: ON YOUR LEFT. Like Charlie was a damn bicycle?!?
Luckily, like i said, Char-Man is the sweetest little man who ever lived, so it was fine, but there are at least 3 other horses i could have been leading who wouldn't have been so... cool about it.
I lost it, haha, i was talking to Charlie so loudly about how uncool it was the dude left without doing another lap, which was FINE by me... i still had pyscho mare to take out, haha...
Yeah, muggles are stupid about horses.
VERY.
Horse facilities should NOT be open to the general public.
Everyday it's something, a toddler screaming at the mares up front, the dude with the miniature boarder collie who thinks spooky Alfred enjoys being barked at, fhe guy who brought his juvenile, UNLEASHED German Shepards up there, so they could "get used to horses"...🤦‍♀️🫠🤦‍♀️😒
It's insane, really...

I know this is kind of off-topic, but your comment about the dogs reminded me of this:
“Mares don’t like stupid dogs nipping at their heels. Mares get even.”

If you don’t know about horse first ask to pet the horse from a safe distance because some horses only like there owners second KEEP YOUR DOGS ON LEASHES it’s not our responsibility if your dog gets kicked and possibly die third give horses space fourth don’t make loud noises near our horses and ponies fifth if you know, there’s a lot of horses that go on your trail that you walk. Tell your kids do not run and scream when they see a horse or a pony

Carmella is right about what people do, but I don't agree with just stopping. Slow to a walk, yes, but keep going. Most horses are more comfortable moving than being held at a stop. And if you stop, a mother is going to think you're stopping for the kid to approach. My experience at least.

You don't assume that, you just have to know that it's a fact.

Ok, but you horsepeople have to understand and know that the no horsepeople don't know nothing about horses. Because they see that big animal as very strong and brave. So they don't know they're flight animals, who're afraid of speeding cars, afraid of barking dogs. So it's to you horsepeople to change this. Go to schools and television channels talking about horses. Also very important is to explain that buying a horse is not buying a dog, because a horse cost more than a car, and can be sick or go to clinics where it cost always thousand of $ or €. For that reason there are so many neglectic horses.😢

If you don't like it, stop bringing your horse around people .
