Starting with... something? - Rimworld Biotech Ep. 1 [Rimworld Tropical Rainforest Randy 500%]

In this episode of Rimworld Biotech, we begin our 500% Randy Random run in the tropical rainforest. After obtaining the first part of the archonexus map, five colonists leave the Cult of Jingz to found the Believers of Boyo, a charity-focused group centered around the "Guilty" meme and living deep in the jungle. Leaving the tree-loving cult of the swamp behind, they now strive to redeem themselves through benevolence and self-sacrifice - with mixed results. A first charity quest is failed almost immediately and our one and only couple also breaks up just after a few days in the jungle, but the rest of the colony still succeeds in establishing a small hideout in one of the nearby hills. With everything set up, it's time for a new chapter in our story to begin...

The tropical rainforest is one of Rimworld’s more challenging biomes: A warm, wet jungle with choking overgrowth, survival in the tropical rainforest biome will not be easy. Wild predators and frequent diseases will make life difficult for our colonists, who will struggle to find free land to build on. Additionally, we are settling on a tile featuring mountainous terrain, extensive cave networks and a unique river that runs halfway underground.

We are continuing this playthrough from a Naked Brutality scenario in Rimworld Ideology that eventually evolved into a small tribal colony in the cold bog. After obtaining the first part of the archonexus map, we select five colonists for the quest to find the next piece, so we are starting with some items and equipment. Nonetheless, we are settling on a fresh new tile in the middle of the rainforest and have to start a new base from scratch to survive the dangers of the jungle on Randy Random "Losing is fun difficulty" with the threat scale cranked up to 500%.

With the Rimworld Biotech DLC, we also see the introduction of children and reproduction, lots of mechanoid additions, and an extensive gene system that allows the modification of our pawns on the genetic level. Additionally, we see skill teaching, pollution and vampires (or Sanguaphages) introduced to Rimworld, as well as several new races, quests and objects.

Rimworld is a Sci-Fi colony builder simulation game focused on managing a small group of survivors with the goal of eventually building a space ship to escape the planet. Rimworld is developed and published by Ludeon Studios. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game went through several Alpha and Beta versions before seeing the release of the Rimworld 1.0 version in October 2018.

All Rimworld Ideology gameplay for this Rimworld Biotech Challenge was recorded on the PC in 1440p.

It's time for a new start! Let me know where you think we should settle, what we should research first and who shall become our leader! Enjoy :)

personally I think the cave river would be a cool base location.

A riverside mountain base sounds great!

Oh Rimworld, never change. Spawning a group of orphans to blunder into a megaspider cave is magnificent.

I am so happy you are taking on Biotech. My favorite DLC for the game. I would like to suggest that you move into the mountainside south of the river. It would be a bit nostalgic from Cambiar's time. It would also make for a great underground lab facility theme if you plan to use biotech for doing good in the world of RImworld.
For a leader I would suggest Took, since he can guide his child to be the next leader and future of the colony.

kevin's stats and traits really scream leader potential, i'm throwing my vote in for him to lead the BoB.

Biotech really takes Rimworld to the next level, the first time the game felt "complete" to me.

I love that Pete is finally starting a rimworld playthrough again! Hope he'll one day start with a stranded dawn playthrough too!

So glad to see Rimworld is back!
For bases - I think a base dug directly into the mountain around the river is the most interesting. Honestly, the last series featured the anima tree and other trees so strongly, that I'd be more interested to see a playthrough that focuses on recharging psycast through a different means, so further from the tree makes sense to me.
For leaders - I'd find it most interesting to have them be a society of equals until such a time as a biotech-based race is recruited into the colony. Then that person could be the leader.

As someone who could never dive deep enough to make it through a full Rimworld playthrough, I appreciate getting the chance to see it through you. I look forward to how this series goes; maybe I will finally show up in one of your series!

After a full day of house cleaning I finally get to relax some before bed time, and what do I see? A brand new episode of Rimworld entitled to Pete. This Sunday ends on a definite high!

Kevin seems like a logical leader choice. As a non-violent person, he already has the core values of a group that wants to redeem itself and be charitable. He's also the one who's able to keep people alive, especially in a jungle with disease, which makes him one very important member

Light could be a good leader. He's already the one who has burried the child, which points to his special connection to the divine/the ideology.
For the base I would go for the river just because it's such a cool spot.
Thank you so much for making your videos! The manner in which you create content is envoking. My best compliments to your work!

I'd love to see "looks don't matter on the rim" added. It has always stricken me as quite bizarre that, among a group of people struggling to survive on a semi-inhabited planet on the edge of civilized space, the number-one thing that pawns care about is the fact that someone is fugly.

I would say move into the top left mountain. Getting lots of psycasters from the anima tree is always extremely powerful!
Alternatively, since you have already explored psycasting a bit, a mountain base defended by a river entrance sounds increadibly cool!

I can't adequately express the joy I felt when I saw another Pete Rimworld series video in my Youtube feed. With as much drama as episode one has already dished up, I can't wait to see where this adventure takes us.

I think a story, with a breakaway group of doctors and scientists led by Kevin, the pacifist, misogynist, intellectual doctor, guilt-stricken by the raider-like ways of their pasts, could be a very interesting one. So here's a vote for studying Drug-making first.

Good to see you back with Rimworld. There's something therapeutic about your Rimworld videos. Your voice, explanation, and skill just make them some of my favorite videos.
