The continuation of my Speedrunning series. An accumulation of beginner and veteran tips that I feel are good or fun to know. I learned 4 of these for the first time when making this video after a thousand hours of playing rimworld. Crazy how much depth this game has. Thanks for watching!

Here's one neat advanced trick: If you get a dormant mech cluster with an automortar and no proximity activator. You can go build a roof tile on top of the mortar and it won't be able to fire.

The emp on colonists thing is only if they have some part installed in their brain, or stomach. Something like a learning assistant will make emps instantly down the colonist due to shock, where as the special dlc stomachs make them vomit like crazy when hit with emps.

Another tip:
If you want to manualy turn off any device that uses power, build a single unconnected power wire then on any electrical device click reconnect. This can help in low power situation and does not require pawns to switch off the device.

dismantle a corner block and a roof tile to get a peak inside anchent dangers, also you can build a roof over mech morters to stop them from being able to attack.

Now the shelf trick for corpses was an interesting trick, you had my interest but NOW you have my attention. The orbital beacon was also a new trick, might be quite useful.

Regarding the second tip: If you make a giant stockpile that fills the map, it will expand your home area as well. This can result in pawns prioritizing putting out fires far from your base or cleaning up stuff that doesn't need cleaning.

Also, you might want to set the big stockpile's priority to Low and have a higher priority stockpile in a freezer so your colonists or hauling animals will still haul the animal corpses into a freezer.

Use straw floor instead of wood as it is more flammable than the Hindenburg, simple incendiary mines surrounded by straw floor can wipe out an entire unlucky raid

0:13 | Even if you hide the stockpile, having it there whenever you click is a pain in the ass, you are better off just going with default behavior (or if you really need to have hunting done all at once, you can do it manually with a drafted colonist).

0:20 | Why would you do this? The only thing I can see this as useful for is keeping corpses near a butchering table, but even then you are just taking it out of the freezer and risking rot, plus given how relatively infrequent butchering is, the time colonists save on walking is mostly negligible.

0:43 | It's worth remembering that sleep effectiveness can also be reduced from some building materials, such as stone.

0:48 | Thanks a ton for mentioning this, constantly having dogs eat meals from the colony freezer is unideal.

1:59 | This is wrong, some brain and stomach implants will negatively affect colonists upon EMP impact, such as vomiting or being temporarily downed.

2:04 | Combine with wind turbines to end worries about trees growing in their path.

the waking up mechanoids one was amazing and i literally downloaded a mod just to change a drop point for the orbital drop traders.

it's sad that i knew all this :D and emps DO incapacitate pawns with bionics but only if the bionic is installed in the brain, then it knocks them unconscious for 12 hours or so

one thing to note on the emp is it brain shock pawn with certain brain implant from royalty dlc.

These are great tricks I learned from playing the game, except that plant-field-thing. I need to figure it out. Maybe I can make an ambrosia plantage by roofing them and adding (some) sun-lamp.

Instead of having everyone shoot the downed thrumbos, you can just click hunt on them and your pawns can walk upto them and insta kill them because they are downed.
