I managed to find my original Walkman earbuds from the eighties and they were garbage compared to the Variations. I consulted Crinacle because, without him, I couldn’t really do what I do, and he helped me confirm that finding. In fact, we don’t really need to review Iems anymore because there is only one. Lest we just repeat ourselves over and over. I’d like to make a video about that but first I should see what Crinacle says.

Man, variations and Salnotes Zero FR literally almost identical. A little bump (+2 db) at 200 Hz is not going to sound as mud, it will just add a little warmth to the sound (male vocals etc). 2-2.5 dB is ok - just look at HBB target. And his target for IEM's is better than Harman. (my preference). 3k +10 dB gain on Harman is also too much, whenever I tried this - it was too shouty, it's ok on over ear headphones but for IEM's +7 dB on 2.5-3 kHz is enough. Maybe it's also personal preference and different ear canal but for personal tastes - EQ will help. The only drawback Salnotes Zero has is 20 Hz bass less by 3 dB. +3 dB bass shelf in EQ is not going to add much distortion. I mean it's 30$ against 400 or even more?

Sharur, at some point you said that ER2XR was a complete dogsh*t that's filled with mud cause it has "too much bass" and told people to get the ER2SE instead, and now you're recommending moondrop variations which is basically a bass cannon. Based on your video saying that people who prefer less bass are complete noob listeners, does that mean that your old videos, back when you were still recommending ER2SE, are complete garbo and filled with sh*t takes (cause you know, less bass=noob, heh)??

Reviews purely based on measurements isn’t great. Measurements/graphs can give you a good idea of if a iem will be tuned a way you like but judging said iem on more then the tuning and talking about it lacking resolution doesn’t make much sense when you have not tried the product. Your elitist attitude really doesn’t come across well. Not everyone can spend 500$+ on an iem.
