Zabbix is open source and monitors ANYTHING.

"I'm not sure if that looks cooler" - the relatable struggle of trying to make technical explanations visually appealing. Also, I'm loving the coffee breaks and geeking out over IT monitoring solutions. Who knew IT stress could be so entertaining?

Oh my goodness. I was using What's Up Gold back in 2000! Wow, this brought back so many memories!

I love it, it is Open Source, Free, Linux Based and you can purchase support. Run it at home, run it at work. Super easy to setup, took me 10 minutes from a stock Debian install to a Zabbix monitoring system, and there are a TON of template files provided by Zabbix and the community.

This video would be great for anyone learning SNMP for the network+. It would have helped me out a lot when I was learning of the OIDs, verbose and granular traps as well as the MIBs. Very helpful info to know.

Bro I love you and no bomo. Just sayin you make the best tech content around. I've worked in the field for the last 13 years as an MSP Network/Systems Engineer and I still find something you promote to be interesting and fun. Keep up the good work!

Studying for Net+ right now and as soon as I learned about SNMP I wanted to monitor stuff. Good timing this video.

I've been using Observium since you did the video like 2 years ago...

Monitoring all my Ubiquiti switches and AP's and devices, my server hardware, iLo/iDrac/IPMI, Windows Servers (2019/2022), vCenter, ESXi, Ubuntu hosts, Truenas, Printers, etc... My home network is now completely monitored and I can see all my port info, network packets, CPU/RAM/Disk, etc..

I love SNMP. I used to write custom MIBs and display them on graphs. So much fun.

Back in school for my end project I made a PRTG server for monitoring and it certainly was a game changer to have such monitoring. One night I thought I'd just quickly do something for my endwork, I check the PRTG server and instantly could see that 1 of our servers was messed up big time. (Had an absolutely clueless teammate). He ended up getting 3 folders on a server with an infinite loop of more folders within them. Inspecting element 1 folder could say it contains like 1234 folders and 426 files, then checking 1 folder deeper it could say 7325 folders and 9423 files. Folder names were too big to be deleted and it fully filled the harddrive to the very last bit. Not only that, it escaped the VM and filled the entire physical machines storage. The same machine where my classmates and another class also had their endwork VM's on so it was a big issue that I spent 2 hours that night at midnight together with a teacher to fix. Spotting this issue early on and getting it fixed before anybody else suffered from it was 100% because of monitoring.

Wow, it's been years, so many many years, and I finally found someone else who understands the greatness of nano.
I know it's stupid, but every time I look up how to do some random thing on linux that I either don't know or have forgotten and the instructions; instead of saying to use a text editor, specifically tell me to install and use Vi I get legit upset for a few seconds.
