Part three of the new video series produced by J.K. Rowling for her website called "On Writing".

In this new video series, she talks openly and in depth about her writing including Harry Potter, her other children’s books The Ickabog and The Christmas Pig, as well as writing as Robert Galbraith, the Cormoran Strike crime fiction series. Filmed in her writing room in Edinburgh and in a London pub, these three On Writing films provide a personal insight into J.K. Rowling’s writing world.

I have a strange thing happening lately. When I feel a bit disoriented, not knowing how to proceed - I sit down and listen to JK Rowling's voice. And calm and focus come back.

Harry Potter helped me through my high school years when my parents were divorcing and I had a HORRIBLE physics teacher (Harry hating Snape felt so real to me).
I re-read Harry Potter after I turned 30. My mom had been murdered, and I just wanted an escape into a familiar magical world, and I wasn't ready for the book to help me deal with the grief and PTSD of a murdered mother. The Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix helped me deal with death better than any self-help book or therapy.

Thank you for Harry Potter. It has taught me about courage, life and death, and the importance of unity. It was the most important story I was told in my childhood, and has profoundly guided and shaped my moral compass to this day. It also brought my family together as my mother read us your stories, and they sparked fires in our imaginations and turned into a burning desire to write stories of my own, and pay forwards what you had given to us. You are a true inspiration and one of the defining heroes our time. Thank you.

I can't believe the witch-hunt that's come from her stating basic biological and feminist facts. Just ten years ago she would have been hailed as a hero for what she said, now she's a villain. WTF? She's still a hero in my books! Thanks for Harry Potter, the series I've read ten times in my 25 years of life. Thank you for the Strike books, the series that's engrossed me this year (yes I've started it late lol)

My hero as a child and my hero as an adult. You got me into reading when no one in my family really read, at 10 years old. I have a career based on being excellent at reading and I truly believe I have Jo to thank for it. currently listening to the audiobooks and I love the series! Yes, MUSIC tells you about people, totally and it has so much to say about time too, when you listen to the 1960/1970 music, Woodstock, Flower Power movement, THAT kind of music, it carries the spirit of it's time and thus we can connect with it, when listening to these old songs, especially the protest songs, these lyrics!
But then as I grew up during the 1980ties, whenever I listen to songs from that time, I have memories float up from my teenag years it is closely connected.
Modern music has no such impact on me. Completely different style

I love her discussing the length of the book in regards to critics.
That's just the size it needed to be, that's just the way it is.
Awesome, and perfect. And simple, which is why I find that criticism easy to dismiss.

I wouldn't mind if those books were even bigger. That's the pure joy - to read an amazing book, be totally into it and still have 700 more pages. Amazing!
