I put my grates in a black garbage bag and spray them with oven cleaner. No fumes, doesn't dry out... You can let them sit overnight and they get really clean.

Thanks! But no easy off in an acrylic tub! It may damage it, try a black garbage bag or basement utility tub to put grates in....no olive oil it has a low smoke point and will smoke or get rancid over time...just follow the oils used for seasoning cast iron skillets...

A pumice stick is not a good thong to use on those butner caps. I'd be willing to bet it scratched them, and the grates as well.

Bad bad idea to put those grates into a tub without anything underneath them to cushion them.

Also, oven cleaner is a big no no for fiberglass or acrylic. This is just bad advice in so many ways.

Olive oil to "seal"? It shines them but it's not any kind actual seal, that's misleading as well.

I would never put easy up oven cleaner in my tub. It could damage it and either way the finished.
