Very interesting! I recently read that Delta Airline’s new contract has a section that states they will match the highest paying airline + 1%. Exciting times to be a pilot.

Hi Pascal, great video talking about Pilot Salaries. I was surprised with how much United Airline Pilots make as opposed to competitors. As for what I would buy given a large salary, my answer would be to invest as much as possible for the future so that if circumstances change, you are financially secure and less stressed. Nothing worse than not having enough money to pay your bills and exist somewhat comfortably. Just found your channel recently and really enjoy your videos.

Thanks for the video 🤩
Could you do one on the worst paid airlines as well?

That was an informative video! Can you please do a similar one for just the USA, GERMANY, and England? Compare the pay for the top 3 airlines in each country?

Great info Pascal ! I really like how you manage to make simple and frankly quite easy to understand.

Individual income tax in USA is comprised of Federal + [mostly] State + [sometimes] City (NYC, Philadelphia). States: FL, TX, NV, WA, NH, AK, PR have no state income tax = ZERO, you just pay Federal one. The amount (percentage) in taxes paid all depends on what state you reside (driver license registration). The tax scale is progressive brackets: the higher income, the bigger percentage you get taxed.

I think you may have overestimated take-home pay (post net and deduction) of US pilots (and other workers). US has a slew of local, state and federal taxes. At the 6-digit salary range, at least 1/3 up to 40% or so of your pay goes to taxes. United's bases are in some of the most highest taxed states in the US, and ones with the highest cost of living. Then this leads to people live in non-base cities that require lengthy and often stressful commute, which is adding many hours on top of our flying hours. All of the countries on this list, I'd argue that US also has the highest cost of health care as well. If the pilot is operating a single-income family, it's not like there will be a lot of monies left to buy expensive toys. But it is true that in the current state of things, US pilots make more than doctors and lawyers.

This was a very interesting video and also I loved watching it just seeing how different airlines pay there pilots but half of your hard earned money goes towards tax but being a pilot isn’t just about the money it’s about what you love to do and enjoying that experience and travelling around the world and seeing new things and being grateful for being in that position because not everyone can be in that position to become a pilot.Keep up the hard work Pascal❤🙌✈️

I'm curious how much 'total' hours are you at work (including commuting to/from, paperwork, airplane on ground time, airport duty and so on) for a total of 80-90 flying hours a month, and what is the distribution of shifts / free time etc. ? I mean in general or average, not for every company in the video

Hello Pascal! I have visited Frankfurt during June/May. I live in Georgia and took Dlh445 on Eurowings from ATL to FRA. I took a picture in the cockpit, i had a layover in Frankfurt then took Dlh590 on Lufthansa to Nairobi kenya on a vacation. I stayed there for a few weeks then came back to Frankfurt on Dlh591 on Lufthansa. Had another layover in Frankfurt, then hopped on Dlh444 on Eurowings back to Atlanta. Being in Frankfurt was fun. I saw a lot of 747s and A359s but sadly did not get to see the A380.(But I saw a Airfrance A380 take off from Atlanta). I am a 13 year old Avgeek and i want to become a pilot for United Airlines and fly the a350s that united has ordered.

Earning that much. I would buy education for those who can't afford... My hope and dreams is to finish my pilot training soon.

Thanks very much for an excellent survey on a matter that needs quite some time to compile and is very useful. As for pilots of US airlines please keep in mind that they can easily be subject to unpaid furlough in case of carrier’s weak financial performance. Plus you usually start at the bottom of the ladder when you change your company.

I absolutely love your videos and saw this one just in time! I was debating how much Turkish Airlines pilots earn as First Officers with a friend and I think we underestimated by a little bit 😅. I am going in for a CRM interview retest in a month at the Turkish Airlines Flight Academy and your videos have been so motivating and useful! Hopefully I'll come back with good news. Fly safe :D
